I open the control center and there are green ticks everywhere and it says I am fully protected. How do you know for sure if AVG is on or off?
The windows security center says AVG is off.
I am running XP
Your right it’s no problem if windows thinks it’s off. i just want to make sure it’s on. We got heaps of trojans and poly’s a little while ago it was a pain in the ass.

Double click on the AVG icon and make sure it says everything is turned on. If everything is on, then I would suggest restarting the computer.

i don’t understand how you think windows says it is off. It is in my tray icon and is on. Try restarting the program through the start button.

AVG, being free, is very much against windows. just to put it out there. if avg is saying its on, then its on. run a scan, test it if you want, but if it says it is on then it must be. i would guess windows isn’t recognising it as on, which is strange, but not impossible. what windows are you running, and with which service pack? i run vista premium with sp1 and it recognises my AVG, but even our slightly different hardware/software could be causing this.
i would say, your AVG i on, but windows doesnt seem to be recognising it, which is no big problem, right?

Jack: Your AVG is on and working, windows just does not recognize it. If you have problems with AVG updating I would change over to Avast this is one of the best.
