my wife wants to make a skittles’ necklace like one she saw at a flea market. she wants to use gummi candies instead. If we incase some candy in resin, will it rot? will it be a long time before it rots? what about dried flowers?

No, they won’t rot any time soon as long as the coating is complete. Rotting happens from exposure to air so any gaps in the resin will result in rotting.
