Why should you have to be 20 yrs. and up just to play the lottery?

once I was at the store and I asked if I could get a lottery card they told me I had to be 20yrs. or older to get 1 so i really got ticked off.

Well, its against the law to gamble under the age of twenty.

I never heard that before….ever….although I don’t get out of my neck of the woods that much Wisconsin and Michigan however you only have to be 18

In the UK you need to be 18, or 16, i think its 18 though, and 18 to drink too, we have it so good here

Because you should be an adult able to understand the gambling aspects of buying lottery tickets. Gambling is for adults, not for the impressionable underage, because with it carries the possibility of becoming addicted. Like beer, cigarrettes, and poker machines.

It is a form of gambling, also FYI, statistically your chance of winning the lotto are worse than getting struck by lightning.
It’s a bad gamble, save your money.

I am not too sure where you are but I know in: VA, TN, OK, TX, NM and IL you only have to be 18.
