WHO SHOULD I CALL, THE PLUMBER OR THE EXTERMINATOR?
I have, every morning, over 50 fire ants crawling around my restrooms garden tub. It appears that they are coming up through our bathtub drain. I’d kill or wash them back down the drain, but 6 hours later, they are back! I’ve had the exterminator over twice. However, nothings changed much. Some die once they reach the tubs surface, but over time, others crawl right over them uninfected. Please Help! What do you suggest?

look down the drain with a flashlight, it should be full of water due to the P trap if it’s just black no water call a plumber to install a trap.If you have no trap your bathroom would stink so i dout the ant’s are coming through the drain but more rather are going there and then crawling out call a new exterminator

Has the outside perimeter of your house had chemicals put onto the support walls?(below the ground level)
Call a different exterminator. Several chemicals may be needed in rotation.
Do you have a city sewer system or a septic tank. Chemicals cannot be poured down a system because they may cause corrosion of the drain system, however, with other ants (not fire ants) I have put a minor amount of water in my tub and added bleach (laundry type) and left it there while I was not using the tub.
From what I understand fire ants can be very aggressive, so you may to repeatedly have your home and land treated over years to eradicate the ants.

Whenever I’ve had ant problems, I used something called “Terro.” It is a clear liquid that comes in a small bottle. You put a small amount on bits of cardboard where you see ants, and I think it is sweet to them. They eat it, take it back to the nest, and it poisons the whole colony. Plus, when you put it out, you’ll see for sure where they’re coming from because they’ll be coming and going a lot right away. Thus, you can eventually put it closest to where they are coming from. It’s odorless, but obviously keep any pets away from the area. You’ll also get a few ants that will die near the cardboard. But, then you can just discard the old stuff, and put out new till you don’t see anymore ants. It’s always worked for me.
Also, if it turns out they are coming from your drain, I would think this would mean there’s some kind of entry for them somewhere. Unfortunately, this may mean your drain is cracked, or deteriorated somewhere along the line, and may need to be replaced.
Good luck! Let us know what happens when you find out.

call a plumber. you either have a hole in a pipe or there is no p-trap in the line and there is some opening in the line somewhere. i am assuming you have a septic tank.
