When does movement in plant life become intelligent?

I mean when you consider a venus fly trap. How is it possible for the trap to shut after the detection of vibration? What type of intelligence makes this process achievable? Where can I find information on this process of movement. It interests me.
Hope you can help. Thanks

I would say when it can decide whether to close or open based on more criteria than “Is my inside being tickled?”
If it’s a person’s finger or a stick, it would not bother closing, if it was an insect, it would. Intelligence is about the degree of free will and ability to learn. Plants never learn anything. Their species evolves.
And movement, in and of itself, is hardly the most amazing thing that plants can do. That has nothign at all to do with intelligence either. What about sensing a coming cold snap and reallocating resources? What about having flowers that have a little bump EXACTLY where the bee’s back goes when eating nectar so that the spores can go to the next tree for pollination?
Been growing them for years, but try these nursery sites for growing tips:

I don’t think we’ve found any conscious plants yet. Movement after some trigger requires absolutely no intelligence. Here’s some info on the Venus Flytrap movement: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus_Flytrap#Mechanism_of_trapping

uhmmm…. when does the movement of your bowels become signs of intelligence? It’s movement, not a thought process. It is instinct. Not intelligence.

Try the books and teachings of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. On this topic very helpful will be for example: “Life comes from life”, which elaborately describes that life is not simply produced out of some combination of chemicals. Life and its symptoms are indication of the presence of a spiritual being within the body of a human, animal, plant, etc. All the movements are directed by material nature, which gives the living entities different types of bodies according to their desires and past actions. Nature itself is controled by the Supremely Intelligent Being, or God.

What is intelligent? Is it thought process or is it actions or combination of both. The sun shinning on a sheet metal and the metal moves or expands is this intelligent? The earth core is constant in motions, is it intelligent? Plant life is intelligent because they are emotional with feelings.
