i just moved into my apartment and i found a rat in the closet. now i hear scratching under the fridge or oven im pretty sure its a rat, how can i get rid of it now? if i pour bleach under the fridge will it die? when i signed my lease they said they had no infestations of any sorts just ants in the summer and spiders. but clearly theres a problem and there was a rat by the dumpster also. can i break my lease for this or what can i do? i dont want to live here if theres rats here
i meant mouse sorry. the smaller ones are what i have

1) Rat traps will kill it
2) you can break your lease because by not telling you the truth, the rental contract is now fraudulent

You probably could break the lease until the rats are eliminated but I don’t see why you should. Get a rat trap or two. They are just like mouse traps only much, much larger. Watch your fingers when loading them as you could lose a pinky.

Make a humane one. Easier and save a life. Just get a bucket or a cardboard box tall enough and put a soft towel or blanket in the bottom. Lean something against it to use as a ramp. You can make stairs of books, a cardboard box flap cut off leaned up against it, or something similar. Put a tasty treat like cheese, lettuce covered in peanut butter, or something like that in the bottom. Leave it by any places you hear screeching and when the climb up to get the treat, they fall in and can’t get out. Works every time. Check the next day and then drive out a mile away from home (to be safe) and letbhim go in a field or by a lake. Happy and easy.

Your landlord is actually in charge of getting rid of those

either catching them from hand and setting them free 1 mile away from your house, mouse trap, glue trap, catching by hand and drowning them.
same is happining to me.

pouring bleach on it, now thats just plain mean and not a nice way for the rat to die. how would you like it if someone poured bleach on you. just set up a humane trap and release it
same is happining to me.
