It depends on your time and commitment. If you have both, you have 3 options:
(1) Subscribe to Beckett Baseball. It’s around $24.95 a year (unless you purchase a different plan). Before you sell anything, you want to get an inventory, and Beckett not only the price list that serious collectors depend on, but you can make an inventory (Year, Player, Card No., and # of cards in your collection).
If you’re solely interested in the value, this is a great start. From there, you can decide how you will sell your cards. But at least you won’t cheat yourself (i.e. You won’t undersell your cards).
(2) If you THEN want to sell your cards, you can checkout the various websites. I have provided one below. (I don’t sell cards, nor am I associated with anyone).
(3) If you really wanted to make the time and effort, then you should make your own website, and list your cards there.
A final thought — Don’t sell everything. You obviously enjoyed collecting cards at one point in your life. Hold onto the ones which have sentimental or personal value to you.
And don’t be quick to sell a truly valuable card. Unless you are totally in need of money, the cards will increase in value.
Have fun! Be prepared to spend time. Consider the bigger picture. Don’t obsess. Set a goal and a timetable.
Take care.
