What can i do when my landlord wont fix anything in Missouri? Please read the details (very long)?
We have been renting our apartment for 4 months now. We have some problems. Our mailbox leaks when it rains and will not stay closed. Our ceiling started leaking and now has a crack in it (we live on the bottom story), our washing machine leaks, there is a big gap at the bottom of our front door and water gets inside, ants come in the front door, and the kitchen window, i wake up to find my sink full of fire ants, we have found cockroaches in the bathroom many times, and our bath tub needs to be replaced. It has a seal from where there was a hole but the guy that fixed it said it would have to be replaced. we have called our landlord many times. they either dont return our call or make an excuse and then not call. with the bugs, they said there is nothing they can do about the ants and if they hired an exterminator for the roaches they would have to spray the whole complex. Please help me. i need to know what our rights are. we are getting ready to call the health department.

Check in your area for a renters rights advacate, also have a copy of something that shows you contacted the landlord… Like an e-mail, certified letter… something to that effect!!! Also do you have pics of the place before you moved in???? Because it sounds strange that a place goes to hell in only 4 months!!??!!?? As long as it is NORMAL wear and tear the landlord is responsible for most all repairs!!!! as for the ants and such , get some Tarro and put it out and let it do its thing, might take about a week or so but the ants should back off , as for the rest of the bugs,,,, Get Pics of everything!!!!, and you can get sprays that should work in your apt for weeks on end and reappy as needed …. meanwhile LOOK for another place to move too!!!! and check it out good, check with other tenents, and neighbors!!! Just like a landlord checks up on you…. You can check on him too!!!!
