what can I do for fleas when ive tried frontline and advantage already, my dog still has fleas.?

Ive bought frontline plus, and advantage one week apart. and used them correctly, and I fogged my house for fleas and they still have fleas. Ive bathed them in flea dip too. There must be something we can do. Any one know of anything out there or any home remedies?

Be sure you are applying the right dosage for the weight of your dog, and you have to part the hair and apply directly to skin. Don not wash the dog for a couple of days before or after treatment. If applied to nly the hair it absorbs into the folicle and not the skin.

there is a product that the vet can give you that if you dog has fleas they will die in a matter of minutes. i can’t exactly remember what it is called but just ask your vet they will know

After 30 years in Florida with every furry critter you could imagine, I took the advice of my ferret group and bought some Skin So Soft from Avon..I think they still make it. Try a bath with SSS and see if it works for you. Please make sure your dog does not have allergies or problems with any of the ingredients. Good luck, let me know what happens.

Well it depends on how long ago you started the prevention, frontline doesnt kill the flea in the pupa stage, which is the stage right before it becomes a full on adult flea. Id give it another week ro two, dont put anything else on your dog for fleas, using both frontline and advantage was kindve of an overdose, but your dog should be fine. Give it a couple weeks, if it doesnt work by then, youll probably have to go into your vet, which will probably give you a pill called capstar, which will kill all the adult fleas on the body in less than 10 mins. Chances are that when your dog goes outside to relieve itself or excercise, it’s picking up fleas from squirrels, rats, and other outdoors animals. There’s not much you can do about it, other than give it it’s Advantage as directed. You also may want to get a Flea/Tick repelling collar.
If your dog seems to have a reaction to flea bites or Advantage, Frontline, the flea dip, the flea/tick collor, etc. etc., call your vet and ask for advice.

I am in the same situation, I followed all instructions, plus put granules over my lawn to kill all bugs, fogged my house, my vet even put the frontline on my dog and I fogged my house while we were at the vets and treated my lawn the night before. I watched a program the other day saying that in Texas at least, fleas are the number 1 pain this year. They suggested spraying the lawn rather than using granules and vacuuming your carpet every day to pick up fleas and their eggs. There is a certain stage in their lives where nothing can kill fleas, so you have to do it all 2 or three times seasonally to ensure the fleas are all killed once they’ve matured. Hope this helps

Have you vacuumed? I’m seeing alot of stuff about chemicals, but you do have to vacuum, and remove your vacuum bag from your house, and also wash all the bedding, and vacuum couches, move the furniture. Then, you can bomb your house.

Fighting a bad flea invasion is threefold.
1) Keep your dog or dogs from neighbors’ dogs.
2) Use product to kill fleas on dogs.
3) Before fogging the house, vacuum the rug and immediately throw the bag away in the garbage.
These steps may need to be repeated a few times.
I have used a fine comb to comb out the fleas into a tub of water and flea shampoo, which kills them.
After the fleas are gone from the dog(s) the next threat is that the eggs hatch a new batch of fleas. So killing fleas is a two step deal. Kill the fleas and their babies. The whole thing can go down the toilet in a hurry if your dog gets out and pals with another canine Hilton flea carrying buddy.

I have heard that if you put a little garlic powder in your animals food the fleas do not like it when it comes out of the pores of the animal and they stay away. But also you might want to flea bomb your home(vacuum first though because it will bring up all the fleas and their eggs planted deep in the carpet)

make sure that your house is clean. next bathe your dog with dr. frizz shampoo. it kills fleas, ticks, and mosquitos. next you add the right amount of frontline or k9 advantix

Have you tried something other than the stuff that you apply directly on the skin? Try seeing your vet for something else like Sentinel its a pill. Also try vacuuming your house. Then try the stuff that you sprinkle on your floor to kill fleas and vacuum that as well. Make sure that you vacuum every where (under tables, move couches, along baseboards etc.) If they are still a problem then, you should call an exterminator to see how the flea infestation is in your neighborhood. And you can always have outside your house sprayed for bugs.

My Vet told me that Frontline was really safe. Meaning, if they got into it and eat it or something, they would be fine. I guess its non-toxic or something. That being said. I would double the dose or even triple it. I would only suggest it with Frontline. Not sure about other brands. So you might want to ask you Vet first. I have recently switched from Frontline to Revolution. Revolution is a flea killer, tick and heart worm medication. It’s a three in one. its a little bit more expensive than the Frontline, but I like it. I hope you can find a solution for that soon. Good Luck

Try Frontline Spray that works best for me. There are some sprays that can be used for furniture and carpeting that will any existing fleas and protect for 30 days. I just read that Penny Royal Oil placed behind the ears and under the tail works. This oil does have a strong odor. I have two dogs and three cats and no fleas.
