Uh…kind of a personal feminine question, but I had to ask…?

(There’s way more crude and personal questions on this website anyway)
This really ticks me off! Why does it have to last all week? Why can’t the blood just all pour out in one day, or at least be able to be controlled and only come out when you go to bathroom so you don’t have to wear those stupid diapers? It’s so inconvenient and it wastes my life, and it always has to happen on vacations. I was going to go up to my friend’s cottage and swim in the lake this week and now I can’t even do that! Anyway, does anyone know a theological or evolutionary explanation for this?

I think that is just how we were made. I believe that God made us and the whole Adam and Eve thing. So when that happened and they let sin take them over that was part of the punishment for Eve. They were perfect before ,but they didn’t listen to God and now we have PMS. Thanks a lot Eve!!

Because it sucks to be a woman sometimes. Your uterus sheds its lining when you are on your period. It can not come out all at once this would be too traumatic to the body.

be Glad that you do have a regular period if you didn’t then you would spend more time in the hospital warring about cancer and infertility or other female things

Each month during ovulation the female body prepares it self for pregnancy…the period we have is waste product from this preparation of the uterus. The uterus is lined with vital nutrients for an embryo to form and then grow. Our period is a result the shedding of this process from the uterus.
Try using a tampon instead of a pad when you want to swim or be free from the pads. They make life easier and allow you to not have that mess leaking out for 5 days a month.

Well, uh, being a male does not make me in a very ideal position to comment on your situation, but being a Biology student does (partially).
As you would probably know, your experience is known as menstruation, and the good news is that it only lasts for about 5 days. Menstruation occurs when there is no fertilization, which means that no sperm enters the oviducts/fallopian tubes, which in more layman terms, when you don’t have sex.
During this time, the ovaries will stop producing hormones, resulting in the disintegration of the ovum (egg) and the thick lining of the uterus(place where embryo is implanted, place where baby grows) breaks down. Thus, these broken lining and egg flows out of the vagina, marking the start of menstruation.
One might think that ligation (female permanent contraception) stops menstruation, but it does not. It only ‘cuts’ the oviduct, so that the link between the ovary (egg producer) and the uterus is gone. Ligation only stops pregnancy.
However, there is a sort of hormone contraceptive, that plays with your hormone and tops mensturation. However, i feel that this is a total violation of what the human body is meant for. it can be found here: http://www.macleans.ca/topstories/health/article.jsp?content=20051213_117621_117621

Well sometimes even I think like that because even I go through all that and miss a lot of fun. I love swimming and it really is annoying when I’m not able to go because of it. But that’s not the end of our life!!!! Try doing other things which you really like and which makes you forget all that.
It happens to us because the wall of the uterus thickens and gets ready to receive the fertilized egg.But hen it doesn’t receive it,it breaks down and the blood is drained .I think you know this.
The blood doesn’t flow out in just one day as there is a lot of it so it lasts for a few days. And c’mon!! Its just a matter of few days.Try and enjoy other things till it finishes.
