TIcks between the toes of a treated dog?
We have taken our dog on holiday for the first time this summer. Normally we live in London, UK, but we are currently in Provence, in the south of France.
We have got a Pet Passport for our dog, so he is vaccinated against rabies, but I was a bit worried about other Mediterranean dog diseases.
The vet gave us a 6 pack of Advantix, which he said would protect against fleas, ticks and sandflies. We treated him before we left, and went off happy.
However, today, when picking grass seeds out of his feet (he’s a poodle X, and we like his hair long, so grass seeds are a nightmare) I noticed ticks between his toes.
I did a full body search, but only found them between and around his toes and pads. I obviously took them off.
Now I’m worried, as his coat is really thick, and its hard to do a full skin search. It took about an hour, with two people, to do four feet and a quick searh of the rest of him.
I thought the Advantix was meant to stop ticks- but a week into our holiday and there were about 12 (of varying sizes) attached and sucking.
Did I do the treatment wrong? He went in water once, 4 days after the treatment, but thats it.
Should I re-treat him? Should I go to a french vet and get some different tick stuff? Any help appreciated!

I would not retreat, I had someone do that to my dog in the past and they get quite sick. If you can I would call your vet back home/or one nearby and ask them what the best thing to do is.
Will your dog wear shoes? I know it looks silly.. but it would save time and help make sure he does not have ticks. I t hink the easiest thing would be tot ake him to be groomed or to give him a bath, witht he water it is much easier to look right down to the skin when it is wet.
