Odd appearence of tapeworms?
Recently My cat has gotten tapeworms. I am Bringing her to the vet to be De-wormed very soon, so I don’t need advice on what to do. However I am stumped on how she got them. I’ve read that they can only get them from fleas, but she wears a flea collar, and I often check her fur for flea dirt of fleas and they simply aren’t there. She is also and indoor cat and she has a very picky choice in food so she doesn’t eat prey such as mice (I would also have known because of the smell, and I keep keep my place clean). How could she have gotten the tapeworms. I’m going to check for sure and have the vet check but I’m almost certain the reason isn’t fleas.
I live in the city so there There may be rodents but not Crickets and birds (Birds cannot get into my home). also my building is checked for these every weekend. There are certainly little to no rodents. and not only do I use effective flea collars but I also use the KEEP FLEAS OFF non-toxic bathing and grooming treatment program, it effectively covers her whole body

The only way a cat gets tapeworms is by eating a flea. All it takes is one flea. It doesn’t mean your cat is infested with fleas or your home is dirty.

Firstly flea collars are not very effective as they cannot cover the whole body. Secondly the flea isnt the only intermediate host for tapeworms. Crickets, rodents or birds can be as well.

Idk, I have two indoor cats, and I have to de-worm them about every three to four months and they don’t have fleas or eat anything other than their cat food!!

Flea collard DO NOT WORK!!! You may not see flea dirt if it is a mild case. Get some frontline or advantage and that should solve your problem.
