My sound isn’t working on my computer :(?
I’ve been working on this stupid thing for about a week and nothing happened. Like a week and a half ago, my sound was working fine. But the next day, it just seemed to stop working. I went under to Control Panel; Sounds, speech, and audio devices; Sounds and audio devices and found out that I don’t have an Audio device. It says “No audio device”. After that, I went to the Sounds tab and try to see if system sounds would work, and it came up “You can’t play blah blah blah because your sound card may be in use.” And so then I went to the sounds tab and my default settings are “Modem #1 Line playback” for the audio and “Modem #1 Line record” for voice. My default sound driver is “Unimodem Half-Duplex Audio device” I never had these defaults before!! I searched and searched and I downloaded this driver detective thing, which didn’t help at all. Then I uninstalled the Audio device and restarted my computer to see what my computer will reinstall, and it was the same dang thing!! Last night I downloaded a “Ac’97 driver” I think it’s called. Something like that. And it still didn’t work!! Can you please please please help me out? What do I need to do to get my sound back? I really need my sound on here and it’s ticking me off!!
I have a Dell Dimension 8200 desktop with Windows XP. If you need anymore information, just ask.
Thank you!!!

Download and install the driver pack in the link below. This is coming straight from the dell site with the appropriate driver for your model.

Plug in speakers securely.
Turn it off mute.
Dells suck by the way. That’s probably your main issue right there.
