my dog might have to go to the vet, but im not sure?
i have two pitbulls and they are great animals who wouldn’t harm a fly, but the children across the alley and next door keep teasing them. it makes them bark alot which gets their parents angry. we recently found food at the bottom of our gate from outside the alley. ever since then, my dog midnight has been vommiting and has had diharrea. im not sure if she has been poisoned or if she is just a little sick, but i would rather take her to the vet either way. the problem with that is, unless my mother has proof it is something serious, like she has been poisoned, she won’t take midnight to the vet. so what should i do?

Go tell your mother you found some greenish liquid in the alley where the kids were and you think it’s antifreeze and that if she doesn’t take Midnight to the vet he’s going to die.

Maybe you could call the vet and tell them what they are doing. They might could convince your mom to take them. Good luck.

YOU NEED TO CALL THE POLICE, give them that food, even if they were not poisoned that dog is sick and needs to go to the vet

If your dog is vomiting it needs to be given proper medical care-whether it’s been poisoned or not. Let your Mom know that denying a pet proper medical care is the same as animal abuse and is punishable by law.

A phone call to your dog’s veterinarian is usually free. Most vets will want to see the dog (and a fecal sample!) given Midnight’s symptoms. Your mother may be more willing with your vet’s encouragement.
If your vet doesn’t feel you need to bring Midnight in right away, you will at least feel better haven spoken to your vet and know what to keep an eye on.
If possible, leave your dogs inside while no one is home to supervise them to prevent barking at the neighbor kids. When the dogs are outside make sure they are promptly brought indoors if they begin to bark.

I think vomiting is good proof that the dog is sick. Try telling your mother this.

Nobody is just going to feed your dog – if food has been placed in your yard, I’d operate under the assumption that it’s been tampered with.
Bring both dogs to the vet NOW, and bring a sample of the food with you. Also report the incident to local law enforcement.

she needs to go to the vet.
i recently took my boxer to the vet and i’m glad we did. he had diarrhea and ended up with an inflammation of his stomach that required medication. i was told if he began vomiting take him back immediately because he could have an obstruction. if you found any bones at all, she really needs to go. bones can chip and cause the obstructions.
i would speak to the neighbors and request they monitor their kids because they are treating your animals poorly.
edit. i agree with everyone that the police should be called!

I would get them to a vet. If it is poison and you wait, it may be too late to help them. Sometimes the vet can test for poison. If you think it might really be poison, call the police or animal control to investigate

ok, one thing you should know is that if the kids are feeding your dog it prolly has dx from just eating too much. If it has been poisoned it is probably going to be not moving at all. As for vomitting please add what it has been vomitting and i can help you from there

Oh my dear god. You may have some nasty nasty kids on your hands. I once saw something like this on animal cops, neighbors were mean to the dog next door then one day threw dog food soaked in antifreeze across the fence. Dogs love antifreeze because it is sweet, but it causes kidney failure, vomiting and diahrreah. If it she is tested positive for antifreeze components in her body, you can report the kids for animal cruelty charges of attempted murder of an animal.

two pits are one too many give one away and just because kids tease the dogs you should have trained them not to bark, this is the problem with Pitts the owners are not training them and then act surprised when people are negative about them you knew they were aggresive dogs before you got them

You mother needs to wake-up. If anything happens to Midnight she will be just as responsible as the person who left the poison. You need to get to the Vet asap and seek medical attention. The same thing happened to someone I know and they thought had their dog been poisoned the dog would have been acting sicker but dogs don’t respond the same way a human does and 48 hours later the dog died. You need to tell the your Vet so she can get the police involved. If you get the police around asking questions it just might scare the person who did it from doing it again (even if we never find out who did it.) That poor dog is suffering and your Mom isn’t doing anything about it. I feel just as sorry for you as I do the dog. Do whatever you have to get the dog to the VET if need be call the police or your local humane society. Good Luck Sweetheart. There should be more people like you out there. Take care of Midnight and keep me posted.

take her to the vet right away. cause it is really possible for ur pits to get poisened. i have a rotty and her too wont hurt a fly not even a cat. but doesnt mean our neighbors will be too happy to see our types of dogs not leashed when they both have a bad reputation. its always known for these types of dogs to be killed by are own neighbors. wat u can do for the mean while is feed ur dog grass. make shure its nice and green. roll it as big as a gumbaLL
and stick it down there throat.. they will eat it and you wont hurt them. its to help digest watever bad they have in ther stomach but it wont clean poisen. please take to vet regardless. hope everything goes well.

The only proof is to take them to the Vet, they can run some tests. The Vet will more than likely begin to treat the dogs for poisoning right away. With some poisons, treatment needs to be sought immediately. Some rat and mice poison contains and anticoagulant which does not allow the blood to clot. Anytime you suspect poisoning, get to the Vet right away, if not you could end up with a dead dog. If you have some of the food, take it with you. From now on, check the yard before letting the dogs out and I’d put up signs that you have security cameras to scare people off.
