My computer says it has a virus!!!?
My computer keeps flashing a message in my right hand corner. It says that Windows has detected spyware infection. It keeps running a scan from Pest control. It said I have 125 viruses. I bought a internet Anti-Virus program from Walmart (Defender-Pro 5-in-one) Since I installed it the result from the Pest Control Scan has decreased to 115. Does this mean that I installed it correctly? How can I be sure if it is working properly or if my computer is infected still? The Spyware removal wizard still pops up all the time saying that my computer may be infected by malicious spyware, adware, and trojans and it will not let me uninstall the Pest Control Scan. I have gone to different sites I have heard about since I installed the Defender-Pro 5-in-1. The free virus scan and removal tolls I have tried say that 0 viruses were found. Does this mean it’s gone!!!!

well if the defender doesnt detect viruses, ur good
but for the spyware, google (or yahoo) Spybot Search and Destroy and scan ur comp. with it. itz totally free, and it iz a really really useful program.
about the uninstallation of pest control, i had to format my comp last time, or if u installed it pretty soon, use system restore to go bfore the installation.

no it doesnt. windows does not say if its infected. try http://housecall.trendmicro.com and http://us.mcafee.com/root/catalog.asp?catid=free and click on freescan for the second one. See what happens.

Try d/ling Ad-Aware, Search & Destroy & AVG. You want the FREE ver of AVG. NOT the trial. Cuz after the trial it asks you to pay. I had lots of viruses & after using AVG I got rid of them all !!!
AVG is pretty easy to use. When you go to the Virus Vault, you can delete your virus(es). Good luck !!!

I suggest contacting the manufacture.
Or changing anti virus.
I haven absolutely not trouble with Nortons. I have it set to work automatically. If there are any viruses or spyware it takes cares of it.
You might check the settings and options of your virus protection and change them accordingly.

Hi,
Don’t panic, the chances that you have 115 viruses are slim.
I used pest patrol also and its good but it will show cookies also and some times folks think cookies are viruses.
If you want to be sure go to http://www.trendmicro.com and do the free scan and removal there. They won’t ask for money and it will really remove anything it finds.
Use internet explorer when going there as it doesn’t work as good in firefox.
