My 7 year old has behavior problems.?
When my son was about 3 months old he became a difficult sleeper until about a year old. He would cry for hours into the night. Nothing we did could calm him. He’s was difficult to potty train. At about 3 and a half he finally got the hang of it. He just turned 7 yesterday and he still wets the bed sometimes as frequently as 3 nights a week. He now sleeps so soundly he is difficult to wake. He has trouble sitting still and when he was about 2 he jumped so much (he broke a light bulb in the basement from jumping on the floor above) my in-laws bought him an exercise trampoline. He can sit for hours in front of a game but other than that can rarely sit still. He makes noises and made up sayings and repeats them over and over. He makes odd facial expression with the noises. When he concentrates he chews on his tongue. He has been in trouble at school a few times over the year because he couldn’t stop laughing in class. He has always had quite a temper and it seems to be getting worse. He throws himself on the floor and growls and screams. He hits himself in the head. He once put his fingers in his mouth and pulled out on the sides and ripped the corners making himself bleed. When we tell him to calm down and we are reprimanding him he often smiles and laughs. It seems as though he can’t control it. He has friends at school and seems shy when first meeting someone. He can be told something or hear an unusual word and it just sticks with him. He’s very skinny and is often worried that he is fat and how he looks. He lost a tooth and cried for hours saying that he looks stupid and he doesn’t want anyone to see him. He’s caring and loving and polite but he’s a ticking time bomb who can go into a fit of rage at the drop of a hat. I don’t know what to do and I am worried for his health and safety. Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Make sure your discipline is consistent and you might want to get him evaluated if he is 7 years old and acting out like a toddler. He shouldn’t be throwing himself on the floor at this age, but if you have always allowed it and never spanked him for it then I guess its expected.

If you want a medical answer it could be ADHD but if you want a physiological answer you need to really show em’ who’s boss, the trouble sleep could just be that he didn’t like not having attention or was scared of the dark.

Sounds like he has ADD? I would take him to the doctor for some testing and see why he is so hyper. As far as the bedwetting, I know how you feel. I was a bed wetter and my 4 yr old son is a bed wetter. I wore diapers as a kid until I stopped wetting and I have my son in diapers every night so he can stay dry. I don’t know how you feel about diapering, but it has worked out for us and not that expensive since he only uses one diaper a night.
