I have two dogs and four cats and was laid off about a year ago. We’ve run through our savings and are just barely getting by right now. All extras in life have been cut out, and my internet access is thanks to a neighbor who’s letting me use her wireless. In previous years we used Advantage on the animals. We aren’t in a tick area, so don’t need Frontline. But this year we simply won’t be able to afford Advantage. Over $150 a month just isn’t going to be able to happen.

What are some cheap, safe ways to control fleas this year?

And don’t say not being able to afford Advantage makes us stupid pet people who shouldn’t have pets. When we got them, we were both working and were feeding Wellness. We don’t like feeding them Dog Chow now. At least we’re not dumping them at the overcrowded shelters or letting them loose in the country!
