Injured squirrel in my fireplace! What should I do?
A squirrel just fell down my chimney and is still alive but not moving other than twitching or blinking. I have no idea what to do! I don’t want to call animal control because they treat animals as pests. I want the squirrel to be removed and rehabilitated. Who should I call? Please help, this is urgent!
Okay, I called a wildlife agency in my area but they’re closed. They did tell me to get a box with towels to put him in. I had a friend try to pick him up and the squirrel got really agitated and is now running around the fireplace trying to get out. I called animal control but they are so expensive! We’re going to try again to get him into a cage and then let him outside. Any other suggestions that are less dangerous/expensive?

Look online or in your phone book for “wildlife rescue” in your area. You can also can any vet – they should have this number. Good luck with the squirrel – poor thing! Hopefully he’s just stunned and not seriously injured.

I imagine that will do the trick.

I am no expert, but I would suggest calling an animal expert or person who can come and help it. Maybe even a specialized vet, like an all-pet vet.
If all else fails, put some food and water in a saucer out for it, do not touch it and see if it gets better. Even though animal control isn’t the best people, give them a call because they can still help.

I’m not sure who you should call other than animal controll. I’m not sure they will respond to a call regarding wildlife. I would howevewr place it in box with a lid. so you won’t have to catch it if comes out of shock and starts running around your house.
