I need to plot graphs in Linux, what packages are available (like Excel, but better)?

I want an object orientated package that allows me to control every aspect of the plot (data, titles, grids, ticks etc) via objects. examples in Windoze are Axum and flexpro (which will cost £1500 for one license). Most I find don;t create professional looking graphs or give the control i need. thanks

Hi.
In all honesty, I’m not sure how good it is with graphs and the like but have you had a look at OpenOffice? http://www.openoffice.org
It might have something there or perhaps inkspace – another opensource bit of kit, a lot like Adobe Illustrator.
Hope this helps.
