Be very careful pestisides can hurt the pups. Call a local pet supply store. They have special stuff for puppies and kittens this young with fleas.

It can only be supplied by a vet in the UK (prescription drug).

before you do ANYTHING, wash it with a mild shampoo for getting rid of fleas, which you can get at any petstore. your dogs may just need that to get rid of the fleas and its safe and can also save you a lot of money. if that doesnt work, then you have to take it to the vet, especially for the pup.

To give your dog effective flea and tick protection, fill a spray bottle with equal parts water and vinegar and apply it directly to the dog’s coat and rub it in well. For older dogs (like the mommy) adding a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to your dogs drinking water provides needed nutrients to its diet and gives it a shinier healthier looking coat and acts as a natural deterrent to fleas and ticks.

OK i know this sounds crazy but on the puppy DON’T USE ANYTHING YOU BUY AT THE STORE FOR FLEAS AND TICK. Because the pesticides in the things you buy at stores can kill or make you puppy sick because she/he is still feeding. i use to work at pets mart and to get rid of tick and fleas use blue dawn dish soap. it has to be the blue for some reason. there is something in the soap that kills tick and fleas but wont harm the puppy or the mother. try it it is what we suggested to all of the people with puppies and it worded like a charm.

comb them off with a flea comb. This is the only safe method, talk to the vet about controlling the fleas on the mother, that’s where they come from. Until then, flea combs will help. The environment is also full of fleas, change pet bedding daily. again, talk to the vet about environmental flea control so it is safe for the pup. Fleas can make a pup so anemic that it can die. The bath can be done, but make it quick so she can get back to the pup. RINSE everything off well, so the pup will not eat any of it when it nurses. Oh yeah, the vinegar trick doesn’t work.

It is really importent to get the fleas off of these two. Flea anemia can potentially kill a tiny puppy or kitten. You can bathe the mother and baby. Use just a gentle puppy shampoo and comfortably warm water on both of them, and leave the lather on for 10 minutes at least, as the fleas will drown. Don’t use flea shampoos on either of them right now, as they are generally not labeled for use in pregnant dogs, nursing moms, or pups under 8 weeks of age. Make sure not to get shampoo in the eyes, ears, and nostrils. (When bathing a really infested animal, the water will turn a brownish red. This is because fleas eat blood and flea poop is made of dried blood.) Pick off or use a flea comb to remove any remaining fleas you see on them. (The fleas tend to head for high ground when you bathe an infested dog, so you’ll likely find a bunch around the eyes and ears.) Make sure to towel dry both dogs really well, and then blowdry on the low heat setting, making sure to keep moving the stream of air around so as not to burn the sensitive skin of the puppy. When they are both dry, give them a clean, flea-free place to rest. Make sure you have thoroughly vacuumed the flea infested area and washed the bedding where they were before.
Advantage packaging warns against use on puppies under 7 weeks of age and on nursing moms. (I just checked.) You might want to check a package of Frontline to see if it would be safe to use on the mom, but I doubt it until after the pup is weaned. Best for now to just do your best with bathing and not to use any flea preventatives. Good luck, and make sure to get the momma spayed as soon as you can!

take a teaspoon of jasmine oil and dilute it with 2 teaspoons water this will be enough for both mom and pup it is all natural and will not hurt your puppy apply it between the shoulder blades like you would the chemical ones It will last up to one month and no harm done to the animal you will not have to worry about allergic reactions or the chemicals in the OTHER brands harming them

go to a vet…… do it yourself is to risky. just a bit to much and the puppy can get to much and nerve damage and death… I hate to say I speak from experience and lost 3 out of 4 puppies following the manufactures instruction

K-9 Advantix is an EXCELLENT product! It covers not only fleas, but ticks and mosquitoes as well. It kills on contact, and if used once monthly, will also de-flea your home. As the pet dander falls off the animal, the larvae eats it, thereby sealing its fate.
It is dosed by weight, too. The green Advantix is for dogs 0-10 pounds, so it shouldn’t harm the pup. Be sure to confirm with your veterinarian first, though, or see if there’s an Advantix web site. I’m not 100% positive about the newborn.
