How do you get into medical school without ANY science qualifications?

My girlfriend has A Levels, a BA degree and an MA degree in Social Science subjects (Sociology in particular) all achieved in the UK. She is interested in going to Med School but is afraid as she has no scientific background and time’s ticking. Would it make sense to attend night school and study foundation courses or just apply to university?

You have to be a whiz at organic chemistry or you will fail miserably.

It’s simple as this. YOU CAN”T!
ALL med schools require biology, etc.

Can’t do it! Got to have so much science to be a doctor that it ain’t an easy thing to try to go back and pick up after you have a degree in one thing already!
If you want to be a doctor, you must know and retain so much information that I just couldn’t have enough confidence in my ability to do so to treat people in situations where my actions could cause someone who trusts me completely to do more harm than good, I just could not do it!
Doctors are born not made and if you didn’t decide to become a doctor until after you have completed a course of study in another field, then I advise you that this is not something you need to try!
It takes a very special person who has a doctoring mentality to be a doctor.
We have a lot of them these days that are just exactly what they seem to be when you find them in the walkin clinics in the malls! I don’t think a whole lot of people should trust that kind of doctoring, because they are just not interested in helping me get well, they are interested in seeing as many people as day as possible to make a buck and if it is my body and my buck, i believe I’ll just buy a bottle of aspirin and go home instead of shopping!

Med School is basically about the Sciences, so I would tell her to get as much science as she can, because there are a ton of prerequisites for med schools, and that would be something she should know. She should, if for Med school, and she might have already taken these, some Chem classes, Cell biology, Anatomy.

Despite her stellar credentials, without a solid scientific background she will not be accepted to any medical school. She should take as many science courses as she can before applying. Particularly she should focus on biology, organic chemistry, and anatomy and physiology.

one word: prerequisites.
she’d have to go back to school and take all the required science classes. she’d get miserable scores on the MCATs with no science background.
