How do I get rid of (or at least control levels) of all kinds of bugs immediately outside my house?
I know this is going to sound ridiculous, but I have to get rid of the bugs on my deck. I am a smoker
and I am terrified to go outside at night anymore. There are literally millions of bugs everywhere I look… mosquitoes, flies, gnats, moths, beetles – all hovering around my porch light… earwigs, ants, spiders, and little microscopic creepy-crawlies popping up between the cracks every few seconds. It doesn’t matter where I look there are bugs everywhere – it’s truly causing me to become overly paranoid every time I go outside. I guess what I want to know is how to control the problem constantly, rather than toting a can of bug spray outside every time I decide to smoke.
PS
please don’t say “quit smoking” as an answer to the problem, that one really gets old ![]()

Some kind of power that kills bugs could be put around the edges of the porch. Some fly strips hanging can catch the flying bugs. Some soapy water in containers can catch the gnats. If you can see with a yellow bug light, that can help. Avon skin-so-soft- bath oil repels bugs. 1 part oil to 5 parts water. Vanilla flavoring does too. The arbor colored mouth wash repels skeeters. Fabric softener sheets repels bugs. Lavender repels little flies.
Marigold flowers and rosemary flowers repel bugs.
We use some of these when we go outside. I put the skin-so-soft on the dog and I when we go out side. We keep Bounce fabric softener too. I have a yellow light bulb on the porch and some marigolds.
