I have used powder and apart from looking unsightly and possibly harmfull to the children, it didn’t work.

Put on rubber boots. Take a shovel and dig a small hole in the top of the ant hill. Pour in fire starter for the barbecue. Light the combustible. Stand back quickly.
Be sure to do this when the kids are not there. It will give them ideas. They may want to try it on their own.

Get a rooster. We had three while growing up and they always kept our yard ant-free by eating them. But you’ll have to get used to the crowing noise – Cocka-doodle-doo!

just pour a cup or two of gas on the top of the mound in one tiny little spot and go back inside. DON’T light the gas for safety sake. The fumes will kill them all in about a minute or two.
