Buy a box of grits. The ants will take them into their nest, it will swell with moisture as well as if they eat it it will swell and kill them off. They feed it to the queen and she dies… hence they will leave.
Another I have heard is to stir the ant hill with a stick and then pour melted butter on it and the ants will go away.
Another is by using sugar substitute: Sweet and Low… pour 2-5 little packages of sugar on the ant hill.. the ants carry the sugar to the interior and they LEAVE??? Do not know why.
Hotsauce works for me. It also will kill weeds too if you pour it on them. Kinda makes you wonder what the stuff does to our body if it kills weeds and gets rid of ants!
You can sprinkle dry Maxwell House coffee grounds on the hills. Also sprinkle cream of tartar on the hills too. or if this does not work, try sprinkling equal parts of Heinz yellow vinegar and water on the hills and their trails.
tip petrol down the holes, dont light it though, but seeing petrol is exspensive use lemons, skin and all ants hate the smell of lemons, you can mix lemon juice skins and all with water and keep doing it they’ll will soon get the message, about 2 lemons/lt of water.Make sure you drive them away from the house
Down in Kentucky we used to sit on the front porch about sundown and shoot at the little buggers with the 12 guage. We used big shot with a small spread. It would stir the dirt up something awful and even it the little ants did not all get blown over to the next county, they would know that they were not welcome in our part of the world and leave quicker than a hound dog looking for a fire hydrant. Plus the gunshots would keep nosy neighbors away and any boys wanting to court my sister. Yea boy.

Put a nozzle on your hose and blast the crap out of them. You could use poisen but, that’s not good for your lawn or your own health.
Note: I just read the first answer, gasoline will kill your grass.

I would guess, when you, or if you, cut the grass, you’d just run them over, then simply treat for ants.
