Help when am I going to stop quitting my jobs?
I’ve had three jobs this year 1 calling people to get them to donate blood. 2 answer all kinds of calls even for a ministry that had us praying for people and then trying to get them to buy things or make donations. 3 calling people on the phone to do surveys about anything from snack cakes to pest control. I’ve had to work crazy hours and I haven’t made enough money and right now I’m tired. I’m tired of quitting jobs but I know I won’t advance or thrive on them. I only get them to say I have a job, I don’t even make enough on them to pay off the stupid credit cards I got in college. I want to go back to college but I want to work too. Recently I had an interview with an Airlines company. I had 2 phone interviews. Being a flight attendant could totally change my life, I’ve never made over 10 buck an hour in my lifetime and they get paid over 17 but they have limited hours. It would take me away from here. But I wouldn’t be able to go to school. And I don’t want to retire at 70 as a

If you’re still young and unmarried, find something that you’re passionate about, and figure out what training is needed by conducting informational interviews with people in the field. You want to make sure that this is something you truly want to pursue with all your vigor. Then, take out a large loan, go back to school, and continue to work your crappy jobs (perhaps you should wait tables, you can make good part-time money and the schedule is more flexible) until you complete your degree.
There will obviously be sacrifices to make while you’re pursuing your dream, but that’s the way it goes.
If you’re older (near 40), and/or married with kids, then it’s probably too late, in which case you’re screwed. I hope that’s not the case.

You keep getting the same kind of a job! You need to get out of the phone business and find something else. Even factory work. It’s possible you’ll get the flight attendent job. However, if you want to continue your schooling, you’d do better getting a different job with the airlines that doesn’t involve travel. I knew several women who worked as baggage handlers while going to school.

are you living to work? or are you working to live? i used to work 3-4 jobs at a time- a seemingly never ending revolving door (i was so sick of filling out applications!)… i realized a few years back that i was living to work, literally… i would get off my night shift around 1 am and start the next morning at 6! this went on for a few years for 6 days a week. i was hospitalized for work related issues of stress…
i was unhealthy because i had an unhealthy perspective on work and life. sorry for the life story, but i wanted you to know that i may be able to relate. : )
Make a decision that will affect you for the rest of your precious life… work to live.

When you find a job that you actually like.
Trite but true.
When I got out of the Navy, I took whatever job I could get that would pay the bills. I hated it.
But I kept looking for a job I would be happy in.
It won’t happen overnight. Just keep punching at it.

First issue here – you’ve had “jobs” and I think you are looking for a “career”. All of your jobs involved phone work, and you quit each one. I suggest staying far from those positions in the future.
Flight attendent – great career! I know a few people over at JetBlue and they LOVE it. I get jealous of them when they talk about it! Don’t expect to rake in the cash because it isn’t going to be an incredibly lucrative career, but it has so many other benefits for those who love to see new things and meet interesting people. And for now, that $17/hr is quite an improvement over your $10/hr.
Before returning to college, consider if you are just going to college to get a degree and make more money, or if there is actually a particular subject/discipline that interests you. I think it’s pretty well known that many people go to college without that specific passion and end up doing something totally unrelated to their degree when they get out. Of course any degree is better than none, but I think you are doing a very good job of weighing your options right now.
Good luck!
