Help my Pug is loosing his coat and scratching a lot after washing him and treating for fleas.?
I have a 16 week male Pug and I washed him 3 times in a week with a flea and tick shampoo while in that same week he was treated with K9 Advantix. I put on a flea collar (Scalibur) to prevent from fleas and mosquitos (Sand Fly) and that’s when he immediately began to scratch vigoriuosly with his paws and against things and floor. I thought that he was acting like that cause he was not used to the collar but the scratching continued constantly. So I removed it after an hour. His eyes went swollen too after that. 2 days after his coat began to fall in patches including the head. Skin was not redish at that time but the itching and scratching continued. Presently he is being treated with an anti-fungal medication (Fulviderm), 1/4 of a pill daily and Omega 3 tablets. But still the dog scratches and now he has like bumps/sores on his head sometimes with blood from the scratching. His coat smells bad too. Is there something I can do to relief him from the itching? Please help me. Thank you.

Seems to me that you are already doing the right thing.
I ran into a link that’s all about grooming, skincare and grooming supplies for dogs. You might find it helpful too:

with theodor, the bumps, and the hair ;oss you may be dealing with mange. go see your vet for a skin scrape and go from there. If it’s mange the vet will give you some dip and the instructions to use it.

3 times in a week is WAY too often to bathe a dog. Take him to the vet

Have him tested for skin mites, he’s the perfect age to have them take over his body. You are going to kill him if you continue to treat the fleas the way you are. Ne flea meds more then once a month and one kind of treatment at a time. I would think you should read instructions on each product.

It could be the dog is allergic to the flea treatment, and you should change the treatment or med you are using.
he has gotten his coat infected from all the scratching from the reaction, putting a flea collar on him after a flea treatment is over kill, and flea collars do not stop mosquito’s from biting, is the dog on Heart Guard Plus, this prevents heart-worms and hook worms in dogs, and should be given every month, 12 mos a year, once started, never stop it, this prevents heart-worms in case of mosquito bites…
I do not see where in your question you said had seen the vet, the dog needs to be taken in if has not been already, only a vet can treat this, and the dog seems to now have infection in the skin, all the bleeding on the head, bumps, and hair falling out……the dog is suffering, please take to the vet asap.
call your vet, there are no vets on here, and only your vet can help the dog…home remedies will not cure him, and the Omega is not helping either..
good luck, I really hope your little dog gets well soon, I know it is miserable from all the skin problems.
a lot of dogs have been having bad reactions to K-9 Advantix,
there have been several cases within my 4 dog clubs, and all had to be put on antibiotics and itch medication, some had to take shots to stop the itching, since no pills were relieving the problem….

First of all, you are bathing the dog way too much. His skin is probably all dried out and causing him to itch. If you put the dog on Advantage, you shouldn’t need all the other flea killers, the collar, the flea baths etc.Have him checked by your vet. Maybe he is having a reaction to the Advantage or something.
