help i need info on ticks?
I found several little greyish blue bugs (at first didnt know they were bugs) on my floor. My dog had got out several days ago and was gone for 4 or 5 hours he is normally an inside dog. Last night he got into trouble for peeing on my floor and i locked him in the bathroom. this morning when i went to get him out i found these bugs on the floor in the bathroom where he had been laying. So i looked them up online and found pictures. they are ticks!!!! eeew. Now i need to know what to do. I put the dog in my back yard, because i have a 4 month old infant and a almost 2 year old son. I dont know if there are still any ticks in my house and am scared if they are carring lyme disease that my children or me and my husband could get them. The ticks i found were engourged with blood and laying on there backs. they werent moving but what i want to know is… are they dead or just resting until there food has digested and then will feed again!? this creeps me out. i really need to know what to do about this problem. Our family dog slept in the bed with us and everything. i have not noticed any bites or anything on me. But he had to have these ticks when we got him back home and now i m so worried that there in my house.

Well, I don’t know if you know, but ticks can’t be killed unless you burn them. If you start to notice any bites or see any in your house, either call an exterminator or hope there’s no more in your house.

First of all.. bring your dog back in =_= you leave him/her out with the other ticks, the dog will become infested and very ill. Get a dog hair bush and bush your dog out or feel around your dogs body. If you find a tick on your dog drinking you need to get it off of your dog. Just like humans dogs will get lyme disease. This causes depression in dogs, lameness, and can cause some organ issues if they get it bad enough… Once the dog has lyme the vet will put him/her on meds but depression can stay with the dog and even lameness.
If you find a tick in your dog get some Vaseline rub it all over the tick around the head even this will make the tick pull out due to the lack of air it will be getting.. or get tweezers and pull at the head… not at the belly but the head… if you just pull the belly off the tick will live and just keep on drinking.
Once you have checked for ticks (even check between the toes of your dogs they will go in there as well) give your dog a tick and flee bath. Also look up Information about a garlic supplement to give to your dog, once the dog gets on this as well as front-line, bio spot.. the garlic will go into your dogs skin oil ticks and flees hate the smell making them stay away from your dog even more.
Start to vacuum your house in the bathroom and surround rooms.
At this point if you saw Multi amount of ticks on your bathroom floor you really need to bring in your dog before the dogs gets a disease, or become anemic. if this happens it will cost a lot of money at the vets and you could even be pointed at for animal abuse.
I also know that there is some things that you can treat your grass areas for ticks, ants, and flees but make sure its safe for dogs, cats and other wild life to go onto the grass area.

They are full of blood they are not dead.
In order to kill them you must tear them in half or burn them.
They are flat and hard to kill when not full of blood.
Once they get full they drop off.
You should put a topical spot on stuff on your pet to prevent them. It helps and most of the ones you will find will be dead. But they still will get them.
You should check yourself and children for ticks every time you have been outside in the grass.
Deer ticks are the ones to worry about for Lyme disease. They are very tiny. The more common dog tick is larger.
It depends on what area you live in. Call you local county extension service and find out what control methods they recommend and what type of ticks are in your area.

Ticks are nasty little buggers. Any creature that attaches itself to your skin and sucks your blood is high on the list of things you want to avoid. Worse yet, ticks present a health risk for both dogs and humans. Here’s more info:

if there are ticks in your backyard it’s easy to get rid of them. at home depot or places like it you can buy something [i forgot the name, but i've used it] that comes in a bag it’s like poison for them and you first need to cut your grass then sprinkle this stuff everywhere and then water your lawn. it worked for my friend in less than a week he stopped seeing ticks. they also sell prinklers that you carry in your hand and they throw it out much futher so the job gets done quickly.
until you do this take your dog to the groomer or give it a bath with flea and tick shampoo. check his fut and mostly his ears and between his toes. when you’re sure you’ve got them all you can keep him inside until you can take care of your lawn.
