Is it just me or do others get annoyed when you pull up to the pumps and see a girl or lady out pumping gas and their boyfriend, husband or brother sits in the car moping to the radio watching?

But I like to pump my own gas o_o. Even if i’m not driving. I bump my fiance out of the way and do it cause it’s fun. I get to push the buttons ^_^

This has never happened to me. If it did, I would be annoyed ~ slightly.

I think its incredibly rude! I understand the need for a girl to be independent and do things on their own but the guy should at least get out of the car and speak with her or keep her company. Thats just laziness & disrespect for the woman.

lol pretty funny question. Yep it is pretty weird seeing that, but sometimes the guy can have a break or two, but he should be working more

Remember women’s lib? you got it! What can one say other than out of pure consideration and respect, “HE” should get out and pump the gas. What a bum and low life he must be to be SO rude as to not at least offer to pump the gas. Then you have those women out there who want to be more dependent. I prefer to pump my own gas. If he insists then I let him.

Would you think it equally rude if it was the man pumping gas, and the woman sitting in the car? These days, women have equality, and it cuts both ways.

I make my husband sit in the car while I pump the gas, due to him working very hard physically. I do not have a physically exhausting job so I feel I am more than capable to get off my butt and pump the gas so he can rest his weary legs. I would do anything for the wonderful man I have in my life !!
: ) Happy Spring !

Someone’s got man issues.
Seriously, no, I don’t get annoyed when I see this, because quite frankly, it’s none of my business (and really, it’s none of yours, either). Maybe they take turns pumping the gas. Or maybe the woman just happened to volunteer to do it when you witnessed them at the gas station.

Is he a slug? And have you heard of women’s lib? I am a woman, and with my car, I do the necessary things, like pumping gas or checking tyre pressure. It’s my car. And I am – thank God – and touch wood – not handicapped. It’s wonderful to be able to do things and be independent.
But another reason can be that the man has a bad back, etc.
There are many things one doesn’t see, many reasons one can’t tell at a glance. You don’t know what he does in other situations, may be he’s th emost helpful…
But if he really IS a good for nothing, then I say, kick him out… ha ha !

Pumping gas is not labour intensive compared to shovelling coal. Most women are quite capable of the former and perhaps a bit fewer of the latter.
What you see is a female pumping gas and a male remaining in the car. You do not know either of them. You do not know the nature of the relationship. You do not know what conversation transpired before you arrived. What makes you think the women are being forced to fill the tank? It’s quite likely that it was their CHOICE to do it, for whatever reason.
There are far more grave breaches in manners going on in public every minute of every day. I think they might merit your attention more than the scenario you’ve just described.

You know, women have equal rights and can even open their own doors now! Welcome to 2007.

Nope. I think whoever is driving should pump the gas. If we’re using my car and I’m driving, then I will get out. I don’t need my bf to put gas in my car for me.

I personally don’t see this as a problem. What is a problem is there are so many women that don’t even know how to pump gas, check and fill the fluids or even change a tire. I think everyone who drives and/or owns a vehicle should know how to perform these very basic things.

I don’t have a problem with this. I have on occasion pumped gas into the vehicle when my husband has been wearing a suit. I do this because if there is ever a spill, etc what I am wearing is almost always machine washable whereas his suit is dry clean only. On the other hand, perhaps the slug in your question is unemployed and she is paying!

Um, no. My husband and I have one car because he doesn’t drive. I drive, I pump the gas, I do the maintenance. It’s my car and my responsibility.
I find it insulting when men think women are incapable of pumping their own gas.

No because if it’s self serve usually the person pumping is the person paying and if it’s her car and she’s using her card she’s not going to want to give her PIN to someone else to pay. You don’t know what relationship she is to the male in the car.. he could be a coworker or acquaintance.. who knows.

Why would that annoy you? It’s illogical. If I’m driving my car, and I happen to have a passenger (of either gender) when I go to get gas, why would I expect him or her to do it for me?
I guess I don’t understand the source of your annoyance. It’s a mundane job that has to get done, but it’s only a one person job. What difference does gender make?
