Get rid of ants inside an apartment?

The ants are not in the kitchen, they’re in the bedrooms (meaning carpet, no way to sweep/mop them away.) I can’t find a mound around the building, so I can’t destroy that. I can’t set fire to anything or use things that will damage the carpet/walls. Squishing them is difficult (carpet) as is finding them to squish (brown carpet.) I also have two curious cats who won’t leave things alone, so I need something non-toxic to them.
I need something that will kill the ones inside already and/or prevent others from coming in.
Any ideas?

buy ant baits (RAID)
The ant mound is probably somewhere on the outside and have found their way inside your bedroom. Ants look for food and water so they will surely find it anywhere they can get it.

Ants are usually looking for water, so I’d make sure everything is (and stays) dry dry dry.
Keep trash and food items completely sealed.
Follow the trails and try to block their entry points with caulking.
Set up ant traps. You can probably find non-toxic ones that are curious cat safe.

I’m not sure wnat it’s called, but there is an ant bait that is filled with somesort of ant poison and the ants take the food back to the queen and the collony ultimately dies out; it’s worked for me really well. It should get rid of them in about 24-48 hours.
Good luck!

I have had the worst problems with ants in my house this year. I got them really bad in my bathroom and then HORRIDLY in my kitchen.
I buy Combat Source Kill… Its a box that contains 6 little white ant square thingys. They have ‘ant food’ in them that they take back to the colony and it will kill them. You just set the traps out where the ants are, set several of them out. And then leave them be for a day or two and then the ants are gone. I have used this product for 2 years on ants now and I have never not gotten rid of them.
I get mine at Wal-mart and it cost $1.98 so very inexpensive.. You can buy it at other places too and I have three cats in my house and they to are very curious and they dont bother these and even if they didn’t it wouldn’t hurt them.. So that will work for your cats…Good luck!

I have always like the raid ant traps. You can put them just about anywhere and they do a great job. Good luck

TERRO. It works wonders. I lived in an apt. and I had the little ants and the ones that some of them are about an inch long. Put that out and get some ant spray. Spray it around all window seals and door frames. All around kitchen cabinets, stoves anywhere an ant might get in. After doing both of these once. It will keep them away for awhile. It worked for me. Good luck.

The best ant bait I have seen is Ant Block by Andro. The ants disappear in 24 to 72 hours and stay gone for 4 or 5 months.
