German roach problem in apt, need advice.?
So, I moved into my apt about 4 months ago and still have 8 months into my lease. When we first moved in we notice we had and infestation of spiders, ants, and roaches (German Roaches). The spiders died out(sorta) the ants stay clear if nothing is around, but not the roaches. They are everywhere, in the fridge, bathroom, kitchen, and living room every square inch. When I first moved in one of the leasing agents had pest control come, I feel like they aren’t doing anything but spraying water. They came back three more times and nothing. Finally I was pissed off and expressed my concerned about paying $800 a month for an infested apt/ was given the manager told her they are in my fridge, I can’t use my cupboards, my draws in the kitchen and that when I moved in I put all my new dishes in the dishwasher which was as well infested with roaches, and to this day I eat on paper plates because I just find it gross no matter how many times I wash them because the roaches are not going away. I can’t cook because the minute I do they come crawling on the stove into my food, also told her that I have over 100 photos of these roaches(which is true). Mentioned as well my huge security deposit, which includes my two dogs that are never here because of this situation. She said nothing except that she will get pest control out. He came last week and sprayed just one area, which was the cupboards and said he will be back next week to bomb. Well its next week and they are still running around? I honestly don’t know what to do, I can’t break the lease 1) they will charge me, 2) It will go on my credit and who would want to lease anything to me. I’m terrified of these roaches I’ve slept 3 nights in my car. Now when I do move out in 8 months time, what do I do about the stuff I bought? I have a $1000 sectional, $700 TV my fiancé bought, and a $70 microwave, and my newly bought mattress and bed. I don’t see them on the bed or couch, though I’m still not sure if it’s safe to bring with me. I have seen them crawling around the TV, top set box, and modem. Yes I am talking months down the road my lease ending, but it doesn’t seem like the problem is going to be solved. I have over 100 photos of roaches Any solution would be helpful, thanks.
I honestly do not think I’m exaggerating. My drama may be embarrassing for you but not for me. If I knew it was this way I would not have moved in. I bust my ass working hard everyday for the money that went into those things, so there’s your answer.

First of all, I think you are REALLY exaggerating here. Roaches do not like light nor do they swarm out in the open if they can avoid it. Your drama is embarrassing.
Second, 4 months? Why did you even move in if the place was infested?
Third, call a flipping real exterminator. Subtract the cost from the rent.
Fourth, why do we give a crap what you paid for things? Have you never heard of storage units?

You can take as many photos as you want. It will not make any difference. Your landlord is only required to initiate ‘pest control measures’. And it appears that she is doing so. YOU need to understand that roaches will NOT disappear in one or two treatments. Roaches are VERY resilient, and it takes considerable work to get rid of them. The beasts have been around for over three million years (estimated) and they are very tough.
Do your part in keeping the place spotless from any ‘food residues’, and perhaps you might purchase some roach traps to help in the process. Roach traps are quite inexpensive and will help.
FOLLOW UP: That you “bust your ass” is irrelevant. The issue still exists, and must be handled. And YOU need to learn that it takes time to eradicate roaches. Understand that the roaches do NOT care how hard you work.
That being said, you can’t break the lease over this issue, UNLESS your landlord refuses to provide any type of eradication measures. It is NOT your landlord’s fault that the roaches have taken up residence. She is attempting to get rid of them.

Your landlord is doing what is legally required by having you apartment treated by a pest control company.
You cannot legally break your lease, your landlord is meeting all requirements.
Buy some roach traps, do you best to keep your apartment free of any clutter or debris, remove your trash daily. You will see an improvement if you take measures along with having the apartment treated by a pest control company.
