You need to rent a carpet cleaner and clean all of your rooms. Wash all of your bedding or blankets in your house. Clean your cats again and spray them with Skin So Soft Body Oil from Avon. you can also spray your carpets, bedding, and your furniture. This stuff kills fleas.

Buy a flea comb and comb your cats every chance you get. Kill the fleas that way, it will limit their numbers a bit. Last time my kitties had fleas, I didn’t have much money so I got rid of them that way.
Flea collars and sprays can be bad for your animals.
Also, do laundry. Wash anything that your cats sleep on in hot water.

Ok, stop with the flea bombs and flea baths. Residue from either of those can kill your cats.
Also, flea medicine for the cats is not a one time thing. It’s EVERY MONTH. Dosing the cats once or once in a while will not take care of the problem because while the adult fleas die off, the eggs and larvae are still there in your carpets and furniture for the next month.
To save a ton of money, get Advantage or Frontline size to treat a large dog. One dose for a large dog equals eight doses for a cat. When you get the medicine from the vet, ask for a lidded vial or similar container for the medicine and an appropriately marked syringe that would distribute 1/8 of what you got, which is the appropriate dosage for a cat. This way, instead of buying two expensive doses for your cats, you have enough to dose both of them for the next four months.
Now, for the rest of your house. Your vacuum cleaner is your best friend. Vacuum daily and empty the contents outside. Shake out your cat’s bedding daily (outside) and wash it regularly. Flea eggs are not sticky so they can get sucked up pretty easy. Flea larvae, however, sticks to stuff and feeds off of adult flea poop. So, you got larvae sticking to the cat’s beds, but they will starve to death if you keep shaking their food out.
With persistent vacuuming and properly medicating your cats, the flea population will dwindle and die.
BTW, fleas are notorious worm carriers. If your cats have fleas, they more than likely have worms. Take them to a vet.
I used to have flea problems and I took a veterinarian assistance course. I’ve been flea-less for several years now.

It sounds to me like you have all ready done about as much as you can do right now. If you have applied Advantage on your cats, make sure that you continue to use it on them the same day, every month. In the part of the country I live that means 12 months out of the year as it never gets cold enough to completely kill off fleas.
The Advantage will kill every life cycle of the flea, but as is with everything you have used, you will have to give it time to work. I am so sorry that you have been biten so badly; you and your cats both may have developed a flea dermatits because of the bites you’ve recieved. That could cause your cats to scratch, even after they’ve been de-flea’d; and you may need to make sure you take some Benedryl to stop the allergic reaction your having.
Do you have flea collars on your cats, as well as Advantage?
Did your vet advise you of this? It’s not recommended that if your using the Advantage from your vet that you use any other type flea product on them. That can make them very sick.
The insecticides compounded in those two type products together like that can have a toxic reaction in your cats.
Take the flea collars off your cats and throw them in your vacuum bag, and just make sure you vacuum daily. The flea collars will help kill the fleas that may still be left in your home. Make a special effort to keep your pets bedding washed weekly until your sure that the problem is behind you.
Again, it sounds like you have done about as much as you can do that is safe for you, and the health of the cats. If your cats go outside, maybe its a good time to keep them in for a while, or consider having your yard exterminated before you do let them go out again. Fleas can come in with you from outside as well, so it may be necessary for you to stay out of the grass if you suspect an infestation in your area.
We are a multi-cat and dog family and use Advantage on all our pets. The cats are stictly inside cats, but our dogs do go in and out. If you think that Advantage isn’t going to work for you try switching over to Frontline once you’ve tried using Advantage for a few months. But I think you really need to be consistent with it’s use and give all you’ve done a chance to work.

Firstly, STOP with the continual doseages on the cats–get those flea collars off (they DO NOT work and can be deadly if they get wet, they leech pesticides into the cat’s skin). You use only one dose of Advantage and no more for a month. These are pesticides, too much can permanently damage their livers and kidneys.
Vacuum every day, the wood floors, the furniture–fleas sucked up into a vacuum will die 97% of the time, they’ve checked this and found it true, a study was out Dec. 14th last year that confirmed it in every trial the scientists did.
Those flea bombs are leaving a residu on everything in your place, which exposes you to a toxic overdose as well. It’s on your furniture, bedding, eating utinsils, toothbrush….anywhere the fog touched, that’s now got a residu on it. Be careful with that stuff.
You’ve got a lot of hatching fleas in your environment, which is where the ‘reinfestation’ is coming from. The Advantage on the cats will work for a full 6 weeks (we’ve tested it here, even the outdoor cat was flea free for that long at high summer). Vacuum every day. You’ll get ahead of the batch by doing this and they’ll be dying as they try to eat off the cats as well.
