flea products for my pregnant dog?
WELL IF YOUR HERE TO SAY “JUST SPAY YOUR DOG” I DONT WANNA HEAR IT! IM NOT ASKING ABOUT SPAYING MY DOG IM ASKING ABOUT FLEA PRODUCTS THAT WILL BE SAFE FOR HER PUPPIES!.
well anyways we think my dog may be pregnant and i put flea spray on her yesterday forgetting that she could be pregnant. but it wasent alot. and to day my dad bought flea powder cause the spray was gone. and i remembered that there is a chance she could be about a week or 2 pregnant. my dad dosent know that she might be pregnant and i dont wanna tell him unless we know for sure that she is. but im asking will this harm her puppies? and if so how? btw this will be her second litter. and i have heard you can use frontline one pregnant and nursing dogs?

ive always used frontline on my pregnant girls as extensivr reading up on the product doesnt indicate otherwise.as of yet none of my dogs have had any adverse reaction.good luck

Good for you for being smart enough to think about and care enough to inquire about the subject. I work for a vet and I know there are products out there that can be used on pregnant and lactating bitches. Frontline and Sentinel both claim they are safe for your situation but you can never go wrong by asking your vet what’s best.

Hi. There are some tablet forms of flea control (eg Sentinel that combines heart-worm, general worms and flea control in one). There is also a product called Capstar. The Sentinel sterilizes any fleas and also kills off any eggs of fleas. The Capstar should only be used of you spot an actual flea on the dog. I believe you can use both of these for pregnant and lactating dogs.
If there is a chance that a product could be harmful to the pups there should be a warning on the packs of the products you’ve used stating “do not use on pregnant or lactating dogs”.
The best thing to do is consult your vet. He/She will be able to recommend products that work not only for you but also for all of your circumstances and given the prevalence in your local area. .

Well, my dog is pregnant funnily enough! The ‘FRONTLINE’ pippets are bad as they spread around the body and get in the ears and mouth, get the FRONTLINE spray if they have at vets where you live, as it only convers the ares you want, it is also good for the puppies as it does not travel anywhere you dont spray!
