Does it make me a bad person if I call animal control?
I found a cat. He’s sick, skinny, dirty and infested with fleas. He walsk on 3 legs instead of 4. The 4th one he lputs up and limps. I gave him some food, water and a box to sleep in outside.
I cannot keep this cat, because of allergies. I can’t afford it.
It won’t leave my yard, I need it gone. He chases me everywhere and he looks scary.
I have no car or money to take this cat to a no-kill shelter or a vet.
I heard the animal control will pick it up if I call.
I feel really bad…but I have to do it.
Is there no other option?
I CAN’T take care of it. I wish I could, but I can’t.
tallerfella, IT’S A STRAY CAT! IT’S NOT MY CAT!

If you feel that you absolutely have to get the cat out of your yard, you don’t really have much of a choice but to call the shelter. But just know that if the animal is injured, the odds are overwhelmingly in favor of him being immediately euthanized. If you can handle that on your conscience, go ahead, call the shelter. If not… call your local humane society and explain your situation. Maybe they can dispatch one of their own to drive to your home and pick up the cat.
