Does anyone know if those ionic waterless pet brushes control static when brushing mats out of a cat?

Even though we always have a humidifier going and our cat has short fur, every time I try to brush her out it creates so much static that it tangles her fur even more. I have never seen a cat with such short fur get so many mats, and I have tried all kinds of other brushes with different types of bristles, and they all do the same thing. She is a very hard cat to do anything with, possibly due to the fact that her father was a feral cat. She does like it when I brush her, though, and we really need to get this done so that we can put Advantage on her to address our current flea problem.

I have found it to help with mine, but every cat is different. It is definitely worth a try.
