My puppy scratches alot. I think more when she’s cold. I have tried flea dips and powder, but they haven’t worked. Could she scratch cos of something else.

No, my puppy does too. Especially his tummy… He’s just got an itch!

Do you scratch only if you’ve got a bug bite? Sometimes they just have an itch.

Your puppy should be checked by the Vet it could be allergies she should also have a safe flea preventative frontline is excellent & safe the over the counter medication can kill a dog you get what you pay for they also don’t do much to get rid of fleas

dogs just do that if they have an itch, but if your puppy is scratching constantly like he doesn’t what to stop then you may want to be careful
(I have 2 dogs)

She might have an allergy. What type of dog is she? I have a friend with a poodle mix with very sensitive skin. He needs medication every so often, a type of Benedryl I think, to help with the itching. It can be caused by the flea dip/powder you’re using, dog shampoo, or something else in her environment, similar to a human’s allergy.
If you think it is fleas, avoid the dips and powder and buy a treatment from the vet. I used Advantage on my cats and it’s worked well. Make sure you treat the rest of your home as well, or the fleas will continue to annoy your dog and will turn on you.

Could be allergies. Our Jack Russell has bad allergies! Take him to the vet. They may put him on meds or just recommend some different food. GL!

What color is your dog? Our Jack Russell is white. The vet said that white dogs have more sensitive skin and tend to scratch more. We use a special shampoo for sensitive skin.

Pups and grown dogs can have many reasons to scratch: mites (not visible), dermatitis (irritation of the skin), even allergies.
If your pup is bathed occasionally, dermatitis shouldn’t be a problem. But don’t use “people shampoo”–this can dry the skin too much. Get a good dog shampoo from your vet or a reputable pet store, and only bathe your dog every 6-8 weeks unless she gets really muddy or something.
If she has long hair, you should brush her at least every 2 days; a smooth-coated dog can be wiped down with a damp cloth (and in summer, they really appreciate it!). This can help get rid of any irritants like pollen etc. and normalise their skin oil. The wipe-down is good if she’s been out in the yard or the park etc. in case she’s running into something she’s allergic to.
Look in your dog’s ears to check for mites; excess wax and a bad smell indicate mites, tho they can have mites in the skin and not the ears. If she bites her fur or scratches a LOT, and you don’t see any fleas, take her to the vet for a checkup.
Is the air in your house very dry? This could dry her fur and skin and irritate her. Make sure you are feeding her a healthy, balanced diet too.
