Could it be just one roach?
Im freaking out! I keep a decently clean house…I have an exterminator spray on a schedule regardless of if any bugs get in my house…I have placed “sticky” traps under beds, along baseboards, and under sinks..
Despite all this I believe I saw a roach today…During the day! It was near the ceiling, so I got out the big bottle of spray, killed it, re-cleaned and sprayed the Home Defense spray…This freaking thing FLEW!!!
So I keep a clean house, get my home sprayed professionally, in addition to that spray with Ortho Home spray, set up sticky traps and that creepy SOB was in my living room!
I check the traps often and have never seen one there!
Anyone have any suggestions? I am deathly afraid of them, anything would help! THANK YOU!
I think it may have been an American Roach.. I am new to Florida (just moved here in Jan.) I spray, but will use the dish soap mix if the kids are around so thank you! I hope that the nasty little thing just came in because of all the rain yesterday. THANK YOU for sharing your tips!
FYI for anyone searching
It CAN be just one roach!!! ![]()
If Wood cockroaches are found anywhere inside the home, usually they are solitary. So, it’s not necessary to go looking for the mate. Wood cockroaches do not reproduce or multiply inside. Since wood cockroaches do not establish themselves indoors and their presence is temporary (a few weeks, at most) during the spring, chemical pest control measures are rarely needed.

Was it one of those large ones? They occasionally come inside by mistake usually after it rains alot. I wouldn’t worry if it wasn’t a german cockroach.

I haven’t had a roach for years, but I know how to get rid of them, In the wikipedia source you can find that roaches pick a better place to live than a well kept house, but in winter like mice they invade in numbers. Mix some dish soap , vegetable and fill a spray bottle this will kill all bugs. But you like your commercial spray, I don’t want to breathe the stuff myself. Yes they can fly, but in particular they can move very fast, see source..

If you saw one roach, there are probably more. Wait a while to see if you see another one. If you do, you have roaches.
Even people with immaculate houses can get roaches. It’s just a matter of whether or not they found their way into your house.
If you do have roaches, you can get rid of them.
Mix Plaster of Paris with powdered sugar and sprinkle this mixture anywhere you’ve seen roaches. Pour the mixture directly on surfaces. Don’t even bother with bowls or plates. This way the roaches can get to the mixture easily, and they’ll be more like to walk through it, too.
The roaches end up eating the Plaster of Paris when they eat the powdered sugar. They also get the mixture on their feet and eat it when they clean their feet. Then when they drink water, they die.
Allow the mixture to sit out for at least 14 days to make sure you get the babies, too.
You can buy Plaster of Paris at most hardware stores.
Keep this mixture out of the reach of children and pets.
