Yesterday For my 3 year old cat i used Frontline which lasts for 2 months and i was wondering if its dangerous to use a flea collar that lasts for 5 months at the same time??

Flea collers have NEVER worked for any of my cats…Frontline plus or advantage should be enough if used properly and every month, even in winter months.

Frontline is supposed to take care of fleas. You should not have to use both the collar and the frontline. In fact, I would think using both would be bad for your cat.

Yea like the other person said. Flea collars do not work. Advantage or Frontline by itself will do the job. I had a flea collar and you are not supposed to put it and Frontline at the same time because it can harm their skin.

Flea collars are an absolute waste of money! Frontline does the trick.

flea collars are a waste of money. they really do nothing for you and sometimes can cause toxicity in cats. use only a vet approved flea product like Frontline by itself

Both flea collars and Frontline contain low doses of a neurotoxin that is used to kill fleas, ticks, etc. If there is too much of the toxin on the cat, it can lead to brain/nervous system damage. Frontline takes up to 24 hours to work, and then I follow that with a bath just to wash the eggs off. The cat will still scratch because the dead fleas are still on her/him. If, after a couple of weeks there are still fleas, you can try another treatment or a flea collar.

I wouldn’t that is a lot of chemicals on the cat and flea collars don’t really work, i’d say just get the frontline and give her flea baths!

Just use Frontline. Get a flea comb if you have a bigger problem.

There is no reason to use a flea collar with the frontline. First of all, frontline is so much more effective than any flea collar. So deffinately stick to the frontline. Furthermore, flea collars can choke a cat. They usually aren’t quick release like most cat collars. So they can choke or hang a cat if it gets stuck on something. Stick to the frontline and forget the flea collar.

Don’t use both.
Frontline is effective, but I have had better luck with Advantage.
Vaccuum and wash all your linens religiously and keep up with the Frontline.

You shouldn’t use flea collars at all, with or without another treatment. They don’t work, the very theory is flawed – the fleas have to walk over the collar to die, so they just stay away from the neck area.
Take the flea collar off your cat – they often cause reactions and, given the fact that they don’t work, they’re just not worth it. Also check the instructions on your Frontline because, at least in the UK, it only lasts for 1 month on cats, or 6 weeks for Frontline Plus. And, as I always say – make sure you get it on the cat’s skin, not her fur.
