tell the apartment complex people that you have a bug problem and hopefully they can do something about it

Go back to your complex manager and tell them the problem has not improved. If they fail to fix the problem it is within your rights to report them to the health department and/or demand a different unit at no increase in rent.
As far as what the law says about pests… you have to read your state’s law to see what it says for you. Most states have laws regarding health codes and businesses. If you rent from a company or from a landlord with more than 2 rental properties it is considered a business as they must get permits to rent from both the state and city. This is why I mentioned calling the Health Department if the issue continues.
California has laws to protect tenants from these issues. I have had landlords lose their properties because they didn’t want to fix health based issues. I am the type not to be pushed around by scumbags or slumlords.

ants feed off of other foods than just sugars and if they are feeding on proteins, and the bait they placed out is sugar based, they will not feed on it….the bomb can make the problem worse causing the colony to split up into several new ones…place out a smear of peanut butter and another of jelly near the ants and see what they are feeding on..if jelly Terro is a good generic sugar based bait to use, if peanut butter go with combat bait..avoid using any sprays around where you have placed the baits, you need the ants to eat the bait. Note for the most part apartment complexes will usually take the lowest bid from pest control companies to do their property, thus the company does not expect their employees to waste a lot of time in each unit, you may have to stay on them to get the properly handled.
as far as renters rights go, many states only require that their is no open sewage, no leaky roof or broken windows and at least 1 working toilet in a rental property..insects have nothing to do with it unless it is stated so in the lease
