Bumps on Dog’s chest?
We have an almost 2 year old dachshund (maybe 1/2 beagle) who has been losing hair on her chest and belly. At first, I thought it was no big deal, just shedding, and this is the first summer we’ve had her. Now there’s little bumps on her chest that look like mosquito bites. I’ve googled pictures of mange and ringworm and it definitely doesn’t look like that. she’s up to date on her shots and takes the flea and heartworm pill regularly, but it may be possible that she has been bitten by ticks. Does anyone know if I should be concerned? Is this a symptom of lyme disease maybe?
She has lost almost all of the fur in a patch on her chest and a little bit on her belly, but she can’t scratch there, and I haven’t seen her licking there. Big deal or just shedding and some mosquito bites?
The bumps are new and they’re in the middle of her chest, so unless she’s sprouting new nipples…I think some of you may be wrong. Although, it might be a good idea to have the water tested ![]()

Thank you Ktala and Sexy. I can’t decide who to give best answer to, because they’re both good answers, so I’m going to flip a coin.

Since i haven’t seen any pictures of them and don’t know if they look weird, i can’t say for sure, but it sounds like her nipples. if they’re in a line, then i’m pretty sure that’s what they are.
Hope that helps!

I would call your vet and talk to him, but don’t rush your dog to the vet becuase it could be just a growth on the dog and if your dog is part beagle thats a definate possibility. My dog gets them all the time(and he’s a beagle), they aren’t harmful to the dog but I like to get them removed. I’m just thinking that the hair loss is something I’ve never seen before so thats why i suggest calling your vet and asking him.
