Am i over reacting or is he being a jerk?
ok, so, my stupid boyfriend wants to go over his friend’s house. keep in mind his friend’s dog may have had Parvo( a highly contagious diseae to dogs) the one dog who they think has it is at the vets but the disease could still be around the hosue the only thing that kills it is a very strong bleach water. How do i know if the people cleaned well enouhg? i dont want My boyfriend over there for at least a week becasue it can get transfered so easily,(hands, shoes anything if it comes in contact wiht the germs) i dont want my animals to get it we’ve lost dogs to it before it’s a nasty sickness…Anyway we aregued over it last night and he told me he wouldnt go over there until the weekend and i told him i appriciated it and that i would make it up to him. ok well this morning i went to see him ( we’re both 19) and just before i was about to leave around 11 he told me that he was goign to go over there tomorrow and that he only told me he’d wait until next weekend becasue he didnt want to argue anymore last night. i had thouhgt he was going to be so mad at me this morning but he was happy, now i know it’s becasue he had planne don doing whatever the heck he wanted regarudless of my askign him to stay home.( i never ask him not to go do something wiht his buddies this was the first time i tried to put my foot down in 2 years) i am furious wiht him, i’m not on talking terms with him at the moment and if he does go over there i’m not goign to his house or letting him come over to mine for 2 weeks partly for punishment but mainly becasue i dont want my dogs to get sick…, he’s not respecting my feelings on this and by the way he’s talking to me about it he’s trying to make me feel stupid and irrational. We’ve been dating for 2 years now, but…if you were in my situation would you be as ticked off as i am right now…what would you do or say to get it across to him that he’s being a royal jerk? thanks in advance
we vaccinate themourselves, we live out in the sticks and the vet is insanley expensive but i dont know if the shots we got them as puppies had the parvo one in it, we have to check none the less the point of the matter is i aske dhim not to go and he doesnt care how i feel about it.

You shouldn’t have told him he couldn’t go to his friends house, but he should have respected your feelings anyway.

Parvo is avoidable by vaccinating your dogs as puppies and getting their yearly boosters. thats like vaccinating your kids against polio and then freaking out because someone came into contact with the disease and worrying that your kids could get it.
If you dont vaccinate your animals then sure they could get it through that transfer, but they could also get it from playing in the yard.
Why arent you vaccinating your animals? And if you are, why are you freaking out about them getting something theyre already vaccinated against?
I understand your concern, I nearly lost a few dogs to parvo, but then we learned about the magic of vaccines….

i would be upset if i had asked my boyfriend not to do something, but, turns out, he does it anyways, but, there are safety precautions both of you can take to prevent bringing the disease home. have a bottle of bleach water by the door, and before he comes in, have him spray the bottom of his shoes with it. ask him to change his clothes and wash his hands before he touches anything. i would rather do that, than not see him for two weeks
but, he should have respected your wishes, b/c it is in fact your house and your dogs. tell him you love your dogs and you will do anything to prevent them from getting sick. if he cant understand that, then, hes an @$$. tell him if he would rather see his friends than not see you for two weeks, go right ahead.
your dogs can still catch parvo even if they have been vaccianted. happened to my doby! its more likely to happen in dogs 1 year old and under, but, it still can happen.

Didn’t you get your dogs vaccinated? Parvo should not be an issue for adult dogs if vaccinated correctly. You could also make a bleach bath for his shoes before he enters the house.
Are you sure that you are angry because you fear parvo, or are you angry because he “disobeyed your orders”? If later is the case, it sounds to me like a control issue. A man that feels controlled is faster out of the door than you can blink your eyes.

why do you not call the vet and find out the risk before you get all up set and talking stupid maybe your boyfriend knows something you do not. as for you going out with him for how ever long it dose not matter you except him the way he is or you move on why did you get involve with someone if you are not willing to except them the way they are. you are the one with the problem here it is not him nor is it the dogs or his friends. It is you except him the way he is or get out. stop blaming him for him being how he is. you are the problem you are talking about your feelings and how it is effecting you when you do not have the information you need to make a clear request of him. grow up
