What are signs that my dog may have gotten lyme disease from a tick?

Ticks
We take our dog on good long walks in the woods and stuff, then always check for ticks. I’ve only taken 2 off of her this year that I can remember. The one I pulled off last weekend has left a little red bump. Not really a rash.
There was something about lyme disease on the news the other day. I’m a bit worried. She’s acting a bit strange, but I dont know.
Is there any way to tell for sure or any home testing kits?
Thanks so much!

i don’t know how it the symptoms of lyme disease would show up on dogs, but in humans, it would take 2weeks (more or less) from the day of the tick bite to show the symptoms.

My dog Stormy had Lyme disease. The first symptoms we had with Stormy was she had trouble eating, her jaws were sore. Within a day or two she had trouble walking. That’s when we knew something was wrong.
This disease affects the joints. So, watch out for any joint pain. Get your dog to the vet as soon as possible if you think she has Lyme’s. The anti-biotic, if caught early, will do the trick quickly!
Best of luck!

Lythargy, joint stiffness pain, swollen lymph nodes….usually you’ll notice the dog is less energetic than typical, followed by possible limping (usually in the front legs), and within 3 days (typical) the dog may be so stiff and suffering from such joint pain that it will be unable to walk.

The red will probably keep spreading if the tick infected your dog. Usually, dogs become extremely lethargic and stop eating as much or even altogether.
Just watch for mood changes or any types of behavior changes. You should be able to tell if anything has happened with the tick just from observation.
