Restaurant Managers Only…?
Well, I work at a restaurant. I was promoted to a shift leader about 6 months ago and everything had gone to Hell [way before I had been promoted through the first few weeks I was on the new job.] People were stealing, etc. When I informed her about all this, she began to show up at work every day, open to close.
Well, when I was first promoted, I had no guidance whatsoever on any of the policies. + most of the things that were going wrong when I was promoted were transferred over from when the people in power before me abused their power.
Do you think she’ll stay open to close much longer? I don’t think she realizes I have control of the situation NOW, and people perform better under me when she’s not there, because they’re able to take charge of their job [without being yelled at or put down]. ie: Coming up with newer and faster ways to become more efficient without her approval.
She’s just a ticking time bomb. She puts everyone on edge. How can I assure her I have control in a nice way, so she’ll leave!?

She thinks her presence is what is keeping things from falling apart. There is nothing you can say to change this. But she will get tired of always being there; and slowly she will start leaving you alone. You can not hurry this. Until you are the boss..
