@bennra26008 These are the original factory installed sights. This is “Dominion Arms Grizzly 870″, it is not a Remington, I don’t think it’s possible to buy these sights separate, although I expect a place like Brownells would carry similar aftermarket sights.

@TheMango121 I suppose you could, depending on the spacing of the sight holes. However the sight on this shotgun is a factory installed piece of kit, I’ve not seen them offered as an accessory item although there are similar sights sold as aftermarket items. If you buy aftermarket sights be sure that the hole spacing will work with the existing holes in your receiver.

My 870 has 4 pre-drilled holes for mounting..
Can you use those holes to mount this ghost ring sight?

@YamahaWR200 A good soft recoil pad is certainly worth the money and will help your shoulder a lot. Another thing that helps with recoil is to buy more lightly loaded shells – Less weight of shot and less velocity = less recoil.

Quick question. I have a maverick 88 12 gauge and I was thinking of getting a recoil pad for the gf but I didn’t want to wast my money if it doesn’t help.. It hurts her shoulder after maybe 15 rounds.. (standard 2-3/4″ #8 shot) We normally shoot clays, but she can’t do a full set without KILLING her shoulder and I am trying to wait on getting a semi auto 20 gauge till I have a few dollars.. Worth the cost or not really? Cartridge adapters maybe a better bet?

For the sling mount have a look at the S & J Hardware website, they have them for $39.99. I’m not sure where to get the sling, although I’m sure someone out there will have a suggestion.

It’s going to be my go-to truck gun and camping/hiking shotgun that needs to sit comfortably at my chest ready to draw at all times, black bears and grizzlies tend to surprise people from time to time. Do you or anyone else recommend an affordable two-point sling that straps around the torso and to the gun? I’ve seen this type of sling on a video before but I don’t know how to describe it.

Haha the shotgun arrived yesterday morning! Canada ExpressPost does a decent job. I just traded my Maverick 88 (7+1) to a fellow CGN’r straight across.
I am SO impress with this shotgun, it feels sooo solid. It is outfitted with a Fab Defense PR-870 fore end. It gives a quality feel from what I can tell. Actuating it out in the field may tell me different. Future plans consist of a decent 2-point sling, Streamlight TLR-1, and Mesa 6x side saddle.

Waiting for guns to show up in the mail is a form of torture! Did you buy yours from Canada Ammo?

No, I didn’t adjust the sights as I rarely take the same load to the range twice. Different shells/loads = different point of impact.
I had a 12.5″ grizzly that I fired over a over a thousand shells in before I traded it, it gave no problems at all.

So after you saw your results on the cardboard, did you adjust your windage? Also, could you give me a little bit of a detailed review of the durability and reliability of what you thought of the shotgun so far? I’m so damn impatient! I wish it was here now! Haha. Thanks!

THANK YOU for posting this video! Awesome awesome job.
I just recently acquired the 18.5″ with ghost ring sights, but it hasn’t come in the mail yet and I’ll I’ve been doing is looking for videos and reviews! I’ve hardly been able to find anything except for a post here and there on CGN and BCHunting. The evidence from this video makes me pretty happy with my purchase. Thanks again!

I was pleased with the accuracy of this load in this gun. Getting an accurate home made slug load is just about the most frustrating reloading project I can think of!

That’s a bad motorscooter! Good vid and good shooting too! God help the a-hole that comes knocking down your door. That slug would surely leave a nasty hole in ‘em.

For this particular shotgun I had to cut the petals off because the type of slug (Lyman Foster type) will not fit in the wad with the petals on it. Other types of slug are designed to fit into the wad.
