Can I shoot a slug through this gun?

it is a Springfield Model 67DL, a 12 ga. it does not have a screw out choke and I was going to take it deer hunting but did not want to fire a slug through it if the choke is too tight. It does not say what kind of choke it has on the barrel.

A general rule of thumb, if you can drop a dime down the barrel, it is bigger than a full choke, you can shoot a slug through anything bigger than full.

From what I know about guns it is not suggested to fire slugs through a choke. It is better to use a barrel that is riffled or a full open bore. Most shotgun manufacturers make replacement barrels for their shotguns and if they don’t you might try an aftermarket source to find one. Also riffled barrels might have a dove tail that you can mount a scope on. Good luck.

It should have the choke kind on the barrel. you can shoot slugs thru it if it has an improved or a cylinder choke only.

best bet would be shot buckshot. i have fired slugs through full choke before but i am not sure if it was wise or not. good luck
