Please help! i have some questions about roach infestation in my apartment?
okay, so i live in an apartment complex that is infested with roaches. I know that a landlord is responsible for maintaining a habitable place to live by making a reasonable effort to rid the problem. However when she arranges for spraying to be done, she only arranges it for 2 or 3 apartments at a time, and then that’s it! Is only spraying 2 or 3 apartments a reasonable effort to control the problem? I certainly don’t think so!
I am also pregnant, and have a cat so i’m wondering if it’s even safe for me to be in a home that has been sprayed for insects?
Also I own a bran new set of living room furniture, can i hold the landlord liable to pay for the replacement of my new furniture? and what am i supposed to do with my cat while i vacate my home, should i ask that they pay for my cat to be boarded while the fumigation is going on? oh i have so many questions.
btw i would move out of here tomorrow if i could, but unfortunately i am stuck here until tax time of 2011.. this whole thing has put me into tears

That is not an effective way to do it but it is a legal effort. You could only take action if she refused to do any spraying at all. Most sprays they use are harmless to people & pets once the vacate time has passed. It would not hurt to talk to the exterminator the next time you see them.
NO. landlords are never responsible for any damage to a tenant’s personal property. They are not paying for your cat to be boarded either. That is your responsibility. Their sole responsibility here is to spray & try to get rid of the problem. You are not going to get them to pay for anything.
