Pearl Party Question?
Apr.29, 2010 in
Ripoff
Does anyone have any experiances they want to share involving pearl parties? Apparently you open oysters someone provides and you keep the pearls you find. Any tricks to getting a great pearl or a particular color? Also are these things for real or are they ripoffs?

You will find that after you pay your fee that only one or two will get the ‘random’ oysters with the prize inside!

Sounds like a scam to me!

They’re a total rip. The pearls are not perfectly round, the colors are not very even, and they try to sell you cheap jewelry settings to put them in. If you want good quality pearls, save 2 dollars a day for about a year and a half, then buy a Mikimoto pearl bracelet. Worth every penny and very classy.

Ripoff. Ever seen those Pearl Factory stores? Same thing. You randomly fish out an oyster and hope that there is a decent pearl inside but most of the time there is not. Then you end up buying a pendant anyway. Better to see what you’re getting up front.
If you’re doing it just for fun and they are not charging an outrageous amount of money then have fun!
