What are some unusual examples of working animals ?

Pest control
some traditional jobs for example, dogs work as property guards; horses work as transporters; pigeons as post messengers, domestic cats work as pest control and stress therapists … are there any other examples of animals’ jobs.
dogs also can work on dog sledge
elephants and camels are pretty much like donkey and horse
how about gold fish or hamster.
Can they be employed ?
navy dolphins, healer dogs, pony guides … nice!

They are training miniature horses to lead the blind now!! they really are excellent at it. Dogs also can tell when a person is going to have a seisure and can get them to lay down comfortable and stay with them till it passes and they don’t fall and get hurt.

yes in egypt they use DONKEYS for carrying stuff thats in the villages.
while in the desert they use CAMELS !!

Some dogs can tell when a person has cancer, are getting ready to have seizures or getting ready to die. They are being employed, more and more, in the medical field.

Dolphins…with the Navy
rats/mice…laboratory tests
Rabbits….pregnancy tests in the past
Birds…. to tests for gas in mines
Cows…produce manure

the military has trained dolphins to swim under enemy ships and attach an electromagnetic bomb to the metal hull.then they swim away and the bombs are set off either by remote control or by a timer.

Animals as actors in commercials and movies, animal models, dogs and ponies to aid the blind, deaf, etc, dogs and monkeys being launched into space, monkeys and rats as test subjects, dolphins act as rescue divers for people lost at sea

definately bumble bees or other types of bees and Ants. They (the bees) make honey, they work (worker bees), the die for their queen bee and look at some of the hives they have!. and Ants! Ants clean the rainforest of debris, both leafy and dead animals, they work super hard carrying stuff back and forth to their nests they also take care of their “queen” and die for her.

Theres a lil fluffy pomerianian in Stafford, VA that is commisioned as a “working animal”… apparently it notifies its owner when there is a fire by licking her face.
but because this lil fluffy 8lb thing is a registered work animal, its allowed in resturants and what not. I presonally thought it was a crock of an excuse to yet a fashion dog into a fine dining establishment…. but i was just the waitress.
Also, they have assistance monkies… that like help parapeligics (sp). Opening bottles, and picking things up, dialing 911 and such. They hav assistance Pigs – work like seeing eye dogs… except they are pigs.

Mice and rats in the movies do their things. Llamas in both this country and Peru and Columbia are used as beasts of burden, sort of like South American Camels or donkeys. Yaks in Mongolia are used in much the same way as pack animals when needed or as food when times are tight. Chimpanzees and Orangutans are employed in the movies as well ‘Right turn Clyde’!
