I can’t delete Pest Capture?
I have Windows XP. I was notified that I was infected with Trojan and other viri. It was suggested to down load various free scans. Pest Capture was my choise only because it was the first one. After download and free scan it reported that I had malware and spyware viri and I should purchase the license to continue. Since I don’t like to give credit card info over the Net I declined. Now I have this Huge dialogue Pest Capture box on my screen and am unable to delete because it states the “uninstall or remove has been disabled”. And it’s TRUE. I went into the Control Panel to Add or Remove…..etc. and can’t delete it…….A close friend suggested that I Re-Format my Windows XP but being a novice I”m not sure if I could do it. I got a price of $50 but I would really like to see if I could do it myself. It’s not the cost I’d just like to try. I’ve been looking to up-date to a better computer anyway (this one’s 10-yrs. old) so I couldn’t do any more damage. Can someone walk me thru it?

This is a rogue program..It is possible that you will not have to reformat, download Spybot S&D, AdAware, and Avast! and scan them all. This should clean out your system, without needing to reformat.
Although reformatting is possibly your best bet, it’s not worth doing to a 10yr old computer.

If you are a novice, plan for 4-5 hours of pain and suffering to get your system back in shape. Pay the 50.

I assume youve tried, ADD DELETE on My ComputerPrograms
and that you have gone to SEARCH and located files and deleted those but it still remains.
If that wont work, then it is in your Registry and is SELF HEALING If you got it like a day or two ago, then you can delete all files you can find, the go to Programs Accessories, System and then system Restore and restore your system to like a week ago on that calendar. That will restore registry a clean registry and it wont be in there Reboot and its gone
If its a long time you had it, Get on the Web, if you got it so do others, youl see on there how they rid of it and how to modify and edit the registry. Then use Spybot to locate it hit FIX and see if its gone with a new reboot an Spybot scan If not, change the + to minus on Spybot box and it will show REGISTRY on far right Click on that. That gives location in Registry. change registry to infor you got on Web. Reboot and retry Spyware, it probably gone now. If you have computer problems due to your registry change, you can restore to earlier date as ive described above.
In your case if a few simple things above yield nothing, i suspect its easiest for you to insert the first System Restore disc into your computer. and then #2 since you say, I think , its in ADD /Delete and wont come out. That will rid of it. Download all programs you want to desktop first, then copy on CD’s Youl need to reinstall those later.
Dont pay $50 Sure it will solve this problem, but you will remain ignorant on security matters, Do it yourself , get the experience, you cant screw a computer programming up much.
If you have the System Restore discs, you can insert those as a very last thing and that will restore the computer to ITS ORIGINAL STATE if you use all of them as directed. So dont be afraid, the new systems are a breeze to learn about, interesting, and any individual can fix the software problems caused by these intruders.
Get off that IE browser and use Firefox(no active X there) , that is a safer browser. Upgrade Mcaffee, norton or your safeware. and of all upgrade your Windows to latest.

pest capture (Pest Capture) is a ransom ware anti-spy ware product that is promoted and installed by the Zlob Trojan. Other Trojans are also known to install pest capture. pest capture – or the Trojans that installs it – starts generating warning messages (similar to the ones shown below) to try and force users into purchasing the full version of Pest Capture in order to have the alleged infections removed.
(1) Also do an online virus scan to check what other viruses you have in your
computer. If it still finds virus and spyware .
(2) Download hijackthis
(3) Post the hijackthis log on the hijackthis forum for the hijackthis experts to
take a look
PS :- NEVER reformat your computer for spyware infections .
