Big ROACH in my apartment!!!!?
last night there was a big roach (1.5 inches approximatly) in my bathroom at the bottom of my toilet. I have found one other one like it once before in my kitchen on the floor and it was like 7 or 8 months ago. I would like to know how they are getting into my 2nd floor apartment, we even have pest control come out and spray the whole building. Can I do something to make sure they dont ever come back??? I am very afraid of them and am considering moving because of it…. I would take a million small roaches over one big one…..I would also like to know how are they getting in?? This is a VERY clean brick building and cement walls and floors and there are no cracks or holes in the building or walls and I cant figure out where they come from… I can only think that its from the faucets or drains…. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!
…We never have anyone over and this is no baby roach and there are no signs of any other roaches…. Just those two…not even droppings!!!
And by the way I live in North East Kansas….

Have you ever had any friends or somebody else over? Maybe they brought a baby roach over those 7, 8 months ago. And maybe the baby grew up to have more baby roaches 0_o … I would definitely move out though.. Once you get roaches, you can’t get rid of them.

If you live in coastal southern USA, you will see them. And the big ones that fly are really palmetto bugs, not that it makes much difference. Boric acid powder or diatomaceous earth in all your corners is very effective.
But don’t move, as they are really harmless and just nuisances. Gross, but generally benign.

I had the same problem many years ago. I had the outside and inside both sprayed professionally but could not get rid of the awful roaches. I finally bought the brand Contact(I think that was the name) for roaches and placed the little disc all over my house. Never a a problem after that. These can be bought at Wal-Mart or other stores. Sure hope this helps.

it is one of the outdoor roaches getting in probably the american roach… http://www.ipconetwork.org/pests/bsshow.mv?g.rcno=62 or maybe the smoky brown roach… http://www.ipconetwork.org/pests/bsshow.mv?g.rcno=40 just think of them as a flat cricket…probably got in around the flange where the pipes come out of the wall..they won’t be coming from faucet or the drains. How clean a building is has nothing to do with these insects, with the weather warming up and spring rains some have found their way into the walls then into your unit. The pre mixed spray that comes in the gallon container (Ortho Home Defense…Mr Sctott’s ) will be effective against them, just spray where the pipes enter the wall..baseboards of kitchen and bathrooms and the exterior door thresholds should help keep them at bay. These products should be odorless and invisible when dried so you won’t have to have a dusty mess as with borate treatments.
