What kind of bug repellent is baby/toddler friendly (without Deet but is still effective)?

Mosquitoes
I have a 7 week old and a 2 year old. I need a mosquito/bug repellent that is safe for them to use when we go out to shoot off fireworks tomorrow. (And I have decided not to let my 2 year “help” with the fireworks anymore than perhaps setting them up and that’s it; no fire involved!)
Any suggestions from other moms with small children? I don’t want to use anything with Deet in it because it can be overpowering and dangerous for my baby.

apparently Listerine works to keep flys away… but i only heard to use it around where you are and it keeps the flys away for a couple days!

Bug & Sun! I love it. I dont know about the infant though. I haven’t had an infant in the house for a while!
Coppertone makes it.

“Skin so Soft” by Avon is now sold in many stores.
While it is not a bug repellent, has been used for many years in the northeast as one.

The OFF family care products dont contain DEET. They use picardin instead. Thats what i use but im unsure if its a good idea for your youngest. I like the towelettes because i dont have to worry about saturating the kids to get them covered.

I’ve bought Avon: Skin so soft bug guard plus spf 30. It is blue and disappears once you rubbed it in to make sure you’ve got it on everywhere. I haven’t tried it yet, but it is hypoallergenic and peditrician tested. If you know someone who sells avon and you can get it by tomorrow, this might be something to try.

Get Tea Tree gel from Target (or health food center). It works really well…in fact we were out camping in the wild, and we were the only people without bug bites or no-see-ums bugging us. Everyone else with their DEET was still getting pest-ered (pun intended) Walmart also has an organic natural bug spray, it’s in their bug spray section, it works well.
If you can’t find anything else, spray their clothes, and not their skin. WIth the baby, spray a blanket and put it underneath her. and make sure you wash them off when you get home.
Have fun!!!
